Hi Folks,

Some advice from the PH massive please? I'm struggling to decide which to do....restore or sell.

I'm fortunate enough to have a couple of manual 964 C2's. The car pictured below is, I think, a bit of an 'awkward' case however and here's why...

Service History is poor. The previous owner undertook his own work on the car from 2010 to 2013. I bought the car in 2013 and stored it in a dry garage pending use etc. It has not had a great deal of use since then and neither has it been serviced regularly every year. In 2015 I took it to a local Specialist and they got in amongst the car with a raft of bills totalling almost £4k (including a weld on a chassis-leg). It came out looking and driving really well. I then locked it away again ( I know! I know! hehe) and buggered off to work in Europe for a few years.

I'm now back and have been considering what to do with it. banghead He has a current MOT to Feb 2018 with no advisories and a bit of paint to smarten him up. 114K on the clock. A few leaks from his bottom but they all do that Sir...

There's one part of me that feels he should be sold and used properly (I really don't have the time) and the other part of me feels that investing (yes THAT word!) more money would be the right move. If I sell, I really don't know what to price it at....although it's obvious that manual C2's are amongst the rarest 964's confused If I keep, I really don't know what it'll be worth in the future nor how much to put in to it. I suspect I will not keep it anyway...lovely though it is.

It's a bit like having a 2nd wife.. getmecoat

What sayeth ye all? Sell? (and at what price considering the above) or restore and sell?

And I know I've been a bit lazy and should've tried harder but I've been too busy! Leave me alone!..... hehewink

I'd start a thread on a Porsche forum nonchalantly insinuating I'm thinking of selling, y'know, nothing to presumptuous just in case the mods deleted it as it went against the site rules.

I'd then wait and see if anyone got in touch so I could sell without either losing a cut to a dealer or subjecting myself to the twerps and tyre kickers who respond to car adverts, should the offer be right.

If no decent offers arrived, I'd either keep the car and get using it or stump up for some genuine advertising and be prepared to have the usual chancers get in touch.
All very good points, well made and a healthy dose of cynicism on the side. Didn't answer the question though which is 100% why I posted here in the 1st place. smile Anyhoo.....if you had any thoughts on the conundrum I'd like to hear them LOH.

As you say, it's a manual C2 and they wont be making any more of them. If you appreciate an analogue driving experience, id keep it, do what you need to do to make it a reliable driver and drive the tits off it until you are too old to drive anymore or the Liberal elite deem it inappropriate to drive anything that doesnt have a plug on it.

Edit: Oops, just re read the original post. If you have 2, then stick some propper dampers on this one with a decent geo and some Elephant spring plates and treat this one as your mistress. its what any decent Frenchman would do..
Cheers Steve. It's an option! hehe
