Good morning

I may have an opportunity of a 993 coupe which has been in unused for 3 years. Car has a flat battery and been left under a cover in a garage. It’s a one owner car and has around 50k on the clock. The lady selling it doesn’t know what model it is and thinks it’s a 1998 year from memory, I think it may of been a family members who may have passed away.

I’m assuming it’s either a standard Carrera or a S if I’m lucky.

Please could some give me an indication of trade and private sale prices of either model?

If it's a manual then looking at the classifieds -Porsche has one with similar milleage for £80k, a private dealer has one for £70k.

Private maybe £60-£65k dependent on condition. Less if it needs loads of things fixing.

No idea on trade price.

If its a C2 or C4 - Manual, coupe (not targa/convert) and a good colour combo - then £60k (Howevver could easliy need £10k to bring up to retail condtion)

Perhaps tiny bit less if C4.

There has been a few well sorted C2/ C4 sell (all be with 100k miles) for £35k to £40k.

If its a C2S or C4S then could be closer to £75k (if sorted).

Really nice, low mileage, low owners, manual, Coupes, (C2/C4/C2S/C4S) with nice spec/colour are the most sought after and good ones get snapped up quickly.

Prices seem to span from £50-100k for those needing a bit of work to those in outstanding condition. Mileage has a big influence on prices.

Holy Moly - I sold my 1997 4S for £20K - £80k less than that one- ...but it was 2010 and had 100k more miles biggrin

If you do go for it, budget a substantial recommissioning bill! Mine sat for a similar time when I bought it, and it threw me a £7k bill. Cost peanuts ever since though.

Does she think it's a 98 car ? As in an early 996 maybe, does she have any idea of it's value ? If not are you going to go down the route of telling her it's worth north of 60k been a 993 or 10k passing it as a 996 or am I barking up the wrong tree

That's a beautiful car, but pretty much ambitious price-tag! good luck to them, all I can say. rolleyes

IMO ...... a very punchy price ....... and the suicide grey (Classic) interior is not to everyone's liking ....... I for one can't stand it.
