Good evening ladies and gents

I am looking to relocate my Porsches and would like to find a great specialist to look after every aspect of them within approximately a 100 mile radius of Corsham, Wiltshire.

They are:

3.2 Carrera
964 RS
993 Turbo

So might anyone here strongly recommend a specialist with a great reputation and history who is particularly adept with the air cooled cars between 1985 & 2000 please ?

Many thanks

I would feel confident in recommending Northway Porsche.

They look after both water & air for me and I have seen all of the cars you have listed there several times.

They may not work for you, but give Ray a call and have a conversation, they have been in business a long time and I think you would struggle to find a bad word said.
Very much appreciated. I shall search them out

Might try Autofarm (within 100 miles).
I was thinking about them already.

Is there anyone reputable who just services/rebuilds Porsches and does not really sell them, so they are focused on just one thing ?

Fearnsport at Silverstone ?

Not used them myself but seen them recommended plenty of times on here.
Had not yet thought of whoever may be at Silverstone. Thanks so much !

I may give the 964RS to Autofarm for a post purchase inspection (only bought early this year) and see how they feel first.

Not exclusively servicing but there's also RPM Technik and JZM who are probably a similar distance from you. Both have excellent reputations.
I did come across RPM Technik just this week, and i have spoken to JZM previously but not bought from them so do not know them, though i had an inkling they were decent

When I look at the resto work and calibre of some cars Autofarm have worked on would you guys not agree that they seem to be right up at the top ? I spoke to them this afternoon and was told that of the 2 guys working especially on air cooled cars one of them has been there since the late 70s !! I love that kind of response.

I would recommend Jaz in St.Albans, but may be further than you want to go (similar distance to JZM in Kings Langley or RPM in Tring).

Jaz certainly know their air cooled cars.
Jaz are new to me, thanks.

Thank you. But you surely cannot be suggesting there are over 50 Brilliant Porsche garages in the south of England alone? I was looking for the best ones. Cheers

It was mainly because I'd see the names of places and not be able to keep track of where things were. Having said that, I've only added ones that I've heard have had a good review.
I see. I hope I didn´t appear ungrateful for your sharing!

I just checked out what pictures I could find of the Autofarm garage online. I was unimpressed by their yard, but then it is called ´farm´ so I guess the clues were there. Perhaps it really does not matter what the place looks like as long as the expertise is there, which it must be judging by some of the high profile cars that have passed through there. Just that my current place, Precision Porsche, is clean and pristine, its just not that convenient to get too and from any more and I was looking for someone more dedicated to aircooled specifically.

Neil Bainbridge at BS Motorsport near Bicester. He looked after my 2.7RS, my ‘73 race car and my 964 for 5 years and became a real mate not just a mechanic. Ex racer (and a good one)...incredibly knowledgeable (especially air cooled), straight talking and disinterested in investor types.

Now looks after some of the most exotic Porsche machinery out there. Offers race support, travels the world sourcing special cars and rare parts for his customers.

Oh and lost an arm in a bike accident some years ago so plenty of opportunities for top quality p1ss taking about how long he takes to get things done.
This was exactly the kind of answer I was looking for, although I have had a wealth of responses here and all of this information is greatly valued !

Have a look at some of the cars Steve Winter at Jaz runs. Lovely 356 and races an early 911. They looked after both my 3.2 Carrera's, 993 and now my 996 turbo.

Some fine cars turned up on their last open day.
JAZ coming up quite a bit here also. Thanks !

As said above, thank you so much to everyone who took a moment to respond. The information returned is of great value to me.

I like the sound of BS Motorsport, Jaz, and Steve Bull has also been recommended today by somebody I know. Unless anyone comes back to endorse anyone else mentioned here, I shall begin with looking more closely at this 3 for the time being.
