Morning all. For the past two mornings, I have seen an old, and potentially unusual Porsche drive past my house. I'm not that great with vintage cars, but my first thought was that it was a Speedster, but a quick Google suggests that the 356 isn't quite right.

Short of waiting outside in the hope that it drives past again and manically stepping into the road to ask, here's my blink and you miss it description:

  • Silver
  • 2 seat convertible
  • Probably early 1960s
  • Very low, but not quite as "round" as the 356
  • It has one of those period aerodynamic humps at the back, to help the air move past the driver's head
In other news, I also saw a Ferrari 308 that had been fitted with an electric motor. I'm still trying to work out why anyone would do that...

No, but wow - look at that thing!

This one had a fairly conventional grille at the front.

Grille? Conventional? Definitely a Porsche?
It really had that Porsche look. Fair point on the grille though, surely the engine would be in the back?

No, much less 70s than that. Could be late 50s even.

Okay, the 550A looks closest to what I remember, but they're SO rare, that I have to assume it was a replica of some sort. Still lovely, though...

Spotted it again this morning, driving past my house at roughly the same time. Could this chap be using it to commute to work?! Hero if he is!

Managed to get a couple of paparazzi shots. Still think it's the 550A

Definitely a Porsche; says Porsche along the bonnet.
