I love the air-cooled 911 however my budget doesn't stretch to the usual suspects so will need to fish in the shallow waters which reveal some interesting cars around 30k

Something bit rough n ready, mot standard weld repairs and plenty of patina!
Don't care about matching numbers, G50 gearbox, oil weeps, etc however it needs to trustworthy!

I have a 996.2 C2 with nice spec however I am wondering whether I am better to jump ship to air-cooled before I get caught with any big M96 bills. Unfortunately the cost to change is a lot of money and the 996 is a great driving experience and I actually like the looks!

Many thanks to all for taking time to reply with useful and informative posts. Decided to stick with my 996 and bork fund instead of trying to stretch to an air-cooled with a small loan and barely any contingency funds. I am sure my time will come, if not the 996 is my piece of 911 ownership and I won't be sad wondering if I am missing out on air-cooled action. Thanks again!
