Hello,

I am going on a road trip on Friday to Hendaye and would like to know if anyone has successfully packed a race bike into their 993?

I am hoping that I will be able to get the frame on the back seats and the wheels in the front boot.

Any help would be great, as I would prefer if I don't have anything mounted externally on the car for the trip.

I'm really looking forward to the drive as it's around 1000km each way and going to be along some great roads.

Thank you thumbup

Thanks, I will have a look for that MTB fitting if it's available online.

My car is at BS motorsport at the minute for a few bits and pieces.

And I only booked the trip today..

The wheels are 28" 700c's and the frame is a 56".

I'm sure I'll get it in once the saddle/setpost and pedals are removed.

I did a bit of a search before I posted and couldn't find anything.

That is pretty amusing.

that's a smashing pic!

I'd say I'll easily get the frame on the back seats and the wheels in the boot...

I did see the red 993 in the first post.
However, I still think I can get the frame in the back as that guy has tri bars on his bike.
And, I think he didn't want to completely dismantle his bike as it was setup so precisely.

Thanks, I wonder if the front of the 997 is bigger than the 993?
Getting the wheels in the front would be really great.
But I wouldn't rule out renting and trying some newer wheels.

Bike of course.

I could just put the frame in the car and rent some new 25mm wheels.

I've been on the same 23mm carbon clinchers for years.

I will see how I fair tomorrow evening once I collect the car.

I'm hoping it'll all just fit.

I might look at the Thule solution and a roof box at some point later as well, the wife and two kids (9 and 7 yo) fit perfectly into the car, and a roof box would be ideal for a nice holiday somewhere down around Bergerac/Monbazillac. And I'll definitely note to tape up the bars.

That really is great news!

Did the wheels fit in the front?

Thanks!

Wheels fit easily in the front:

And the frame fits in the back with plenty of room to spare:

I'll put the rest of my cycling stuff in the front with the wheels and my other bag on the floor in the passenger footwell.

Thanks everyone for your help!

The reflection scared the life out of me last night as well smile

Iris Blue, yep.

On the tunnel now, just started to move...

In 4th and 5th gear, on the motorway, playing around at 6k rpm is just the nicest thing cloud9

I find that it handles better at speed when there's more weight in the front of the car and it's full of petrol.

To keep the front in check more, would it be possible to fit just a front spoiler?

People argue that it's under powered, but when you use it in context, i.e. booting it across the country, its monstrously fast.

A proper GT car.

And I simply cannot get enough.

I've changed my mind a bit on the front spoiler.

It's the throttle.

The way you can ever so slightly balance being on or off throttle changes the balance of the car and you can control the way it steers.

Utterly brilliant.

And on nice b roads it just soaks up all the differernt types of tarmac.

I wonder what new one was like...

I have to say...

The layers and layers of character you unlock by just spending time driving it...

I will plan that route on the way back OC.

Thank you thumbup

Pitstop now.

I'm in Viennay on the D938

The little 1din Porsche classic stereo satnav is great as well. It gives you four different route options differing by speed and distance.

I just chose the second to shortest route avoiding motorways.
