944 S2 1990 !

Looking for advice, what to pay for the above.

Possibly 2 owners form new, always garaged, 54000 miles in Red

Not had a proper look as yet, not sure on service history yet but I think it wes looked after every year (yet to see if thats correct)

Its been sorn since around May 2016.

Been offered it but not sure what its worth. the guy don't know what its worth either?

What do you all think, ?

Will get it trailered away due to being sat for a while.

Thanks for that, details are a little unknown at the moment.

I have known the of the car for a 10 years or so, its just been put to ons side as other cars were purchased.

Elderly couple just did not want to part with it, now its just in the way lol..

Yes will need all belts and a good going over, body work is in good order the last time a saw it, but need to check the cills.

Pricing an S2 is pretty tricky because it will depend on why the owner is selling - are they moving on a project/hobby car to a new owner or looking to cash in on an investment? Depending on their mindset, the value of the car is very different!

On the plus sides, your car sounds as though it hasn't been abused, is very low mileage, and low owners, all of which are desirable.

On the downsides, you'll be wanting to do a full (expensive) service including all the belts, waterpump, and brakes given the 5 years off the road and any other niggles you get from a 31 year old car. That's without seeing any pictures of the paintwork or condition of the sills (which can rust horribly).

All that in mind, you're looking at around £5/6k if it needs extensive work doing to it, £8/9k if it just needs recommissioning, and £10-15k once it's on the road in top condition. Do bare in mind that it's very difficult to place an exact value on something without knowing more details and also in a fast moving and variable marketplace.

Btw, definitely go for it Can't beat those pop up lights!

Thats what I have got to look at, but I think it might be ok.but never say never.

Put 40,000 miles on it in 4 years taking it to 70,000 and suffered exactly £1,000 in depreciation when I traded it for a 968CS. Now that's a real "one that got away"! Sold it for £13k to a mate on 57,000 miles in, I think, 2005 as I wasn't using it 'cos by then I'd had my first 911 for around 2 years, and didn't have the garage room. Doh!

S2 was a great all rounder. 30mpg, cheap to service and insure and plenty of luggage/golf club room in the back. Oh, and those headlights........

Get it bought and enjoy.

Rust and cam chain are the two main issues. The cam cover needs to come off to check the condition of the chain and the sprockets which are part of the camshafts.

Rust is prevalent: if you can see ANY hint of corrosion then the car will need a lot of expensive welding. 'Surface rust' is something that vendors and buyers try to kid each other and themselves about. If you can see it then the sills have gone and it is likely that the inner sills and the floors, A pillar lase and area where the torsion tube carrier mounts are all corroded too.

Going to arrange a visit, and pick it over then will know whats what.

Looks like this ain't going to happen now, the old boy might do it up and have some fun with it.

Funny he had no interest in it, but now the thought of it going has sparked an interest again.

Having now seen it, it was in very good condition, shame, let's see what will happen as time goes on.
