I think time has come to replace the suspension on my C2. The existing suspension springs (Red) are looking a rusty and the rubber boots on the struts a bit knackered. The car is currently at RS height and is running 18” RUF rims with 80k on the clock.

Ideally I would like it to look the same, but with a less harsh ride, my back can’t take it anyone. The car isn’t tracked.

Possible options currently being considered include Bilstein B16, KW V3, or if I can justify it a set of Ohlins. Also whilst the suspension is in bits is it worth replacing all the rubber bushes, with new Rubber or should I go for PU.

Your thoughts, and recommendation would be gratefully received.

Before looking at dampers you should look at your wheel / tyre choice. Go down to 17 inch and up a profile on the tyre. Also the Ruf wheel is very heavy. Using a lighter 17 wheel can save you 3-4kg on each wheel which makes a huge difference to how the spring/damper works and also livens up the performance to a surprising degree.
It’s a very valid point. I noticed how heavy there were when I was messing about with car earlier in the week. The problem however is that the springs and gatters are rusty/split so need to be changed anyway, in which case I might as well do the struts at the same time.

Ref wheels, I do have a mint set of 16” Cups, but not what I am looking for, and set of original 17” Fuchs (which I quite fancy), will cost me over £2400.

The car is black. But not a fan of the BBS classics, as they are a bugger to keep clean, but it still doesn’t fix the issues of the 30 year old suspension.

I do have a old RUF suspension in garage, but I haven’t fitted it because I think it might be no different to what is currently on the car, except less rusty.
