Hi all,

I put a deposit down on a 488 earlier this year and next week my wife and I fly out to Italy for a Atelier and Private Factory Tour.

As you can imagine we are fairly excited as this is our first Ferrari and first supercar. We have had some quick cars in the past but nothing in this league (or price bracket).

We're going to spec the car at the factory, Our budget for optional extras is not unlimited but we obviously want a reasonable spec

I want to go for the classic red with crema interior.

The things we definitely want (apart from the obvious badges) are:
Suspension lifter (our driveway has quite a slope)
Diamond cut alloy wheels
Carbon fibre driver zone and steeringwheel
Parking sensors

Neither of us are big fans of lots of carbon fibre, but I know for resale value some is a must. Not that I am planning to re-sell the car, I expect we will keep it for a reasonable length of time (as we do all our cars).

Are there other things we should be looking at as must haves?

Thanks for the replies.

I was thinking about the upgraded stereo system so that's interesting. I am not an Apple user (hate the company) so no worries there.

Not bothered about the reversing camera, I have one in my Rangerover and never look at it.

Carbon Race seats is a difficult one, I quite like them, but the Mrs prefers the standard seats. I guess that's one I need to persuade her on in the factory.

Thanks for the responses.

We both went on a long test drive, to be honest the customer service at B'ham Ferrari has been excellent. The car I test drove had standard seats and they were very comfortable. I like the look of the carbon race seats but if they are not very adjustable we will probably go for the standard seats.

As others have said I will spec the car the way I want it rather than for the next owner, it's more knowing what are good options and what are not good options. For instance I have read the read camera is a waste of money. This is not only the first time I have bought a supercar, it's the first time I have bought a new car of any kind, I have never been in the position of choosing options before.

The wheels are a nightmare waiting to happen, my wife kerbed our rangerover wheels on the 2nd day we had it, then proceeded to blame me!!!!

I am 5ft 10 and the wife is 5ft so adjustable seats might be the best option.

This is all good info to have thanks guys.

I rarely wear jeans, its even rarer that I wear blue ones so I don't see it being an issue.

Hi guys,

Thanks for all the responses. It's been really insightful. It's probably given me even more questions now, but that's a good thing.

I do like the Cuio leather interior Ming posted up, decisions decisions......

Hi all, yesterday was a fantastic day. The factory tour was really good. We had a private tour and got to see some parts of the factory that are not on the regular tour. We also got to see the new portofino in the flesh.

The Atelier was great too. Almost too many options. These cars can be so induvidual.

We went for Red with a Crema interior in the end after trying lots and lots of combinations. We picked a darker red stitching colour 105. We did go for the carbon race seats too smile we went for a few carbon bits too.

Can't wait now, it's looking like start of April. I will post picks when it arrives.

Thanks for all your help.
