Long-time Porsche guy from US. Love the 997rs platform and have decided while I’m in London for a few years I’m going to go Ferrari for a while. I plan to try a CS and Scud over next few years given their similar place in hiatory/mission to the 997 3rs’s.

I don’t plan to keep either because I’ll head back to the states in a few years (maybe I’ll add a LHD back home if I fall in love?). Is it insane to buy an fcar in anything other than red? I am looking at 1 silver and 1 red CS currently. I always assumed I’d go resale red but the silver-on-red is tempting me. Is it more difficult to move an Argento CS? I’m under zero delusion I’m buying these cars as investments. But I’d rather not make it harder on myself come resale time in a couple years.

Obviously condition, mileage and history trump color but assuming all equal, curious if any strong opinions.

I wouldn’t buy a color I don’t like, regardless. I’m probably indifferent to red, yellow or silver on a CS. Most likely, the inspection results and final price will decide it for me. I was just curious if there were opinions about “DONT BUY A SILVER CS, you can’t sell it!”

True. In general, currency adjusted, cars seem to be more expensive here than in the US. And in the US, a non-US vin car takes a big hit in value. But it’s not a bad idea if I knew I’d fall in love with it and want to keep it.

I assumed, even though at a premium, a RHD was always easier to move in the UK come time to sell.

I don’t want to give the impression all I care about is resale; I don’t. I care about experiencing a few iconic Ferrari’s while I’m over here; the Porsche stuff will be waiting for me when I go back to the states (although I am going to drag a couple over here in the mean-time). I’ll let you know when i pull the trigger on something; hopefully sooner rather than later.

I am in Kensington. Car will live at Windrush Storage at shepherds bush. Weather IS awesome. I’m definitely open to meeting and driving with the UK f-Car crowd.

I won’t have the car this coming weekend unfortunately; it looks perfect. But should beginning the folllwing.

I’ll reach out once I take delivery of the CS. I was hoping for this Saturday but i have some family commitments that likely will prevent it. I’ll have it next weekend for sure.

I’ve have a half dozen drives in the new CS. It seemed amazing when being pushed hard and painfully dreadful otherwise. I was close to just dumping it for a scud. The tranny seemed crazy violent, sound on/off violent; and I was having thoughts that anything other than being on a track or risking being throw in jail, the car was awful.

Today it clicked. I’m really used to gt3/rs’s: 997 and 991 gen. The CS is neither. It’s tranny wants to live in different rpms/gears at different speeds and it wants to up/down shift in different spots. When I drove it like a Gt3, it SUCKED at anything other than the limit. Today I got it! I was able to drive in any type of traffic, road, speed: 1/10 or 9/10 and it’s pretty brilliant everywhere.

This tranny isn’t a DCT and it isn’t a 3-pedal. But once you get it, this car is one of the most engaging and rewarding cars I’ve ever driven.

Finding out the last owner installed an exhaust flap control system was a big help also. The quiet-one-second and insanely-loud binary nature of the exhaust I didn’t care for. The flaps stuck open or closed, I like.

I’m out of town this coming weekend but I’d love to get out for a drive sometime end of July or after. Do the local Ferrari club or F-dealers do many drives/track events? My cars live in Shepherd’s Bush area of London.

Not to get caned on a Ferrari board, but my experience to date had been that Ferrari feedback felt numb compared to the Gt3/RS world I came from. However, the CS has changed my mind in that. It is an incredibly communicative car.

The tranny seems fine around town as long as you short shift it and let it live in lower rpms. The use of neutral at stoplights, stop/go traffic also. It behaves well at the extremes and awful in mid rpm, mid-aggressive driving. It wants to be 9/10s rush to redline or short-shifted. I’m sure that isn’t the best on the clutch. I agree; every f1/smg I’ve ever owned I’ve always kept in most aggressive setting. I even got a ton of clutch life out of an ill designed 2006 Mas QP. Those F1’s were TERRIBLE and as flimsy as paper.
