Prancinghorses, thanks for your input, yes I knew it was heavy money but i was working on that to at least get some softening. The hunt continues, such a nice spec too. Low miles which gave me plenty of leeway to use the car.

OK so in the summer this car came up on the Carrs website so I called up to arrange a viewing. At the time it was very keenly priced but since then 458s have dropped dramatically so this is now a VERY expensive car.

I drove up 2 hours to view it - I was never told during my discussions that this car was not an approved used Ferrari! It does not appear on the Ferrari approved used website and the reason for this was only made clear when I got there!

It is an accidental car. Not a Cad C D E F Z etc but the car has been involved in an accident and has been repaired. The damage was not major enough for it to be categorized and it was repaired at CARRS. It is an owners car for sale on SOR with them.

I was fuming this was not made clear to me before I made the trip up there (2 hours for me!)

Looks like a nice clean car with proper shut lines etc but as you can see it's not selling and I don't want that hassle when I need to sell it so I passed!

Strange comment, I am actively planning to avoid buying a higher mileage car, so I can drive it without mileage concern........not in my plan to have a 50k miles 458.

What would you do if you bought a car with higher mileage, not drive it?

You are very correct, as soon as you want CF seats the numbers drop dramatically.

Option 2 is here below

Any information on this car?

That's the thing - is there much choice? There's a good number of cars out there but few with a decent spec. I'd say the current market is showing a number of low quality cars which I'm not sure represent the full price spread.

That’s interesting as back then it did not qualify for the approve used scheme. It seems there may have been additional work carried out to bring it in line with the required criteria/standards so now does..not sure.

It definitely has been accident repaired though so if they now hide that fact (as it qualifies) then I would be inclined to request an independent inspection on the car to assess the repairs.

Either way though, with so much choice out there what’s the point!?

Agree it is a lovely spec car though!

Strong money but what a cracker and I do not normally like so much red in the interior. Think you get away with it in a Ferrari though. What a spec.

I kind of like gold wheels with a red Ferrari, I am sure with such a spec the rear is not a wrap, almost guarantee is proper CF.
The inside is a little louder than I like to be honest and I take onboard the colour.

I do see your overall point though.

Sorry, think this as naff as it gets. Trying too hard.... I.e. I wanted a Speciale but couldn’t afford one so added gold wheels and sill spoilers to an Italia. Doubt you’d see a main dealer trying to retail this. Also the carbon style wrap ppf rear is chav. Seen this colour on a couple of V8’s and think looks maroon... not popular; possibly on a V12 if you must. Try and find a nice original 458 that has not been molested.... I always thought my first 2011 car had the best ‘sound’ before the 2012 updates. If I was buying another that’s what I’d go for.

Gary

I think you may be right about the carbon grill it does extend too far. Just called about 2 others that were specced nice and both good. One from Ferrari dealer, shame. I am out of the country for another week and was hoping to secure before year end. Looks like I require more patience. I have noted your comments, I am not a great road tested. Normally if I turn up to view a car, if it is as described I normally buy, all my legwork done online, I live in Scotland so distance is pain. If anyones knows of somebody send them my way please.

You may be correct, however I had the factory carbon rear grill on one of my 458’s and it didn’t extend down into the rear bumper as far as the crease as shown in this one.
Personally I wouldn’t restrict myself too much on carbon spec with a 458. A nicely looked after car with shields, carbon wheel and upgraded alloys will give you everything you need. I had cars with both the race seats and full electrics and too be honest the electrics were very comfy, but I agree the carbons look the business. Also at this price you could almost get into a 488. Think the 458 looks at a better buy at £125-135k imo. Anyway, enjoy the search and make sure you try and drive as many examples as possible. P.s. the standard roof lining is dreadful (out of place on a Micra) and worth finding upgraded leather/Alcantara.

I have enquired and I am considering these 2. Any information on either. Obviously 1 is better value but `I suspect the other may be a better car. Mileage is on my high side as I want to use the car, but I need to be careful I am not hunting a unicorn.

Note the current bit on this is around £133,500k as there are 2 other parties interested, or so they say?

`Yes I am suspicious of the cheaper car, how do you effectively check the mileage?

Taffy66 said:
I'd be slightly suspicious of the cheaper very low mileage car as 458s are notoriously easy to clock..If the mileage check is OK then its a bargain and i can well believe that there are indeed two other parties bidding on it..Both have the 'must have' CF Racing seats which i'd always want regardless of price..
