Not seen any update on valuations for a while. Where do you think 458 values are going in 2020? They seem to have drifted down in 2019, whereas 488s have plummeted. Does anyone see the gap between 430 and 458 narrowing in 2020? I'm keeping my 430 Spider for the time being in anticipation

It is rather interesting that dealers tell us that the value of our cars drop every month, yet what they have for sale stays at the same price for months & months smile

I think it is a mixture of price reduction from Indies (who have less reserves that franchise dealers) and price stability from main dealers. Here is one example from Romans; it has been reduce a few times: https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/10139865?c...

Regardless of which is the better car: 458/488 etc, I assume we all wish to keep our beloved Ferraris is a garage. Mine is in a heated, alarmed garage with tiled floor. Ok, so maybe I'm a sad case. Regardless of which is the better car 458 v 488 v F8, I cannot get a 488 or F8 in my garage. That limits my choice.

I personally thing that post winter & Covid, all F430s will rise in value. I have owned both manual and F1 F430s. Having learnt to drive it, I now prefer the F1 and don't think one can justify a £30K+ hike for the manual. I sold my immaculate low mileage manual for £65K and paid more for the F1 in exchange. But that was 10 years ago or so smile Time will tell, but I suspect 458s will hold their value (just) and 488s/F8s continue to depreciate. We will see.

A very good company to deal with, but like many recently, they purchase very low and sell very high. This Italia is way over value, despite the miles.

Sure you can perhaps get a bit more privately, and when I sold mine prices were pretty robust (dealer offered me about £2k less than what they’d sold it for the year prior), but private sales can end up being a pain. A lot of buyers want dealer level assurance for private money.

You can certainly sell them privately but you’d have to sell it for a decent amount less than it would cost them to buy it from a dealer, since they’re getting none of the assurance (a big glass fronted building to go in and shout at people if you end up with a lemon), as well as the default warranty & protections you get buying from a dealer that you don’t get with a private seller, etc.

I wouldn’t consider buying a F car privately if it didn’t have the Ferrari warranty, and now that I know it doesn’t cover everything anyway, maybe even not then unless the private price was a decent amount less, and that seldom seems to be the case because sellers seem to have delusions of getting ~£5k less than the dealer forecourt price.
I wonder how long ago you sold your car to a dealer? They are hardly interested right now. Just want to reduce their stock or take the car in on SOR. But I agree, if you sell private, you cannot expect anywhere near what a main dealer wants. If you know what you are doing and/or get a survey I still think private is better (caveat emptor) as you are not paying for the vast overheads of a main dealer and one can always buy a warranty from Ferrari if the vehicle qualifies. Having purchased many vehicles during my long life, I most certainly don't trust many dealers who are past masters of hiding problems, offering worthless 3 month warranties, then refusing to look after you. Main Ferrari dealerships are, in the main, great, but you will pay £30K over a sensible private sale.

Trust, knowing what you are doing and a good survey is vital.
