Hi everyone

Having dodged redundancy at work last week it’s time to seek out my first Fezza I think. I’m after a 360 Modena, manual box, ideally red. I plan on using it so not after super low miles. I’ve read the threads on here of others getting 360s and read Voicey’s info so I think I know what I’m letting myself in for!

If anyone knows of a suitable car then please PM me. There are a couple on PH I’ll be calling up on tomorrow.

Also thoughts on which dealers to call would be appreciated. I’ve already called KHPC, AV and Rardley - I’m based in Surrey.

Thanks in advance for suggestions and I look forward to sharing pics when I find something.

Cheers

David

Thanks everyone for the comments so far. Interesting thoughts on the F1 box - it would certainly give me more options. I'm a manual guy at heart, and there is something about the open gate thing that appeals.

If I decided to go with an F1 box, then I assumed I would be better off with an F430 - a bit more money but I could stretch to the extra.

[quote=Kyodo]Sensible comments above. I echo the thoughts on the gear change choice. We went out looking for a manual and ended with an F1 (back when manual commanded zero premium btw). It's a personal choice but do try to drive both, neither will disappoint. Good luck with your search, they look uber-sexy in red!

I know it's cheesy, but just feels to me like a mid-engined Ferrari should be red! Plus I like red cars anyway - my Cayman GT4 is red, and the 964 I had before that was also red.

AV can remap the 360 F1 transmission ECU so its as good as if not better than the 430. They use the 360 CS map.

As for 430 being better than 360, thats subjective. I drove both, but feel the 360 has more coherent looks especially the rear which has awkward panel lines on the 430. Obviously the 430 is newer so some bits of tech have moved on
Thanks that's useful to know on the remap. Sounds like I should be keeping an open mind on the box then. Look for the best car I can find and be willing to compromise on box / colour - I guess that makes sense if I want a good / low cost ownership experience rather than a disappointing and expensive one!

To the O/P,

If you have the budget for an F430, you need to try it before you decide which is for you. There’s no right or wrong answer as many here will attest - there are pluses and minuses for both cars and only you can decide which one works best for you.

And definitely give the F1 box a go. The detractors of the F1 are only people who expect it to drive like a slushbox or DCT. It is neither. Treat it like what it is; a robotised manual and you’ll be rewarded with an involving driving experience (arguably much more of an experience than the DCT gives you).
Yes I could run to an 430, but not a 430 manual, hence exploring the 360 route. Sounds like I do need to try the F1 box though - it would certainly give me more choices of cars to run.

Thanks

I had my 2000-F1 since 2012, it is an amazing car and I don’t intend to ever sell it smile

I tested manual and F1 and went for an F1, one of the reason being it’s easier and faster to select the right RPM when you want some nice noise (like passing in a tunnel). I have the original exhaust.

Granted, the F1 is a bit jerky sometimes, and going in reverse on a slope is supposed to eat your clutch...I even made some laps with it, incredibly fun, but the brakes stopped working each time they were too hot.

Over 8 years it costed me a lot I must say (clutch, gearbox, sticky buttons, paint, exhaust, etc), but it does not matter....smile
Gorgeous looking car with the tan interior and sports seats!
