F12 Berlinetta - Ownership Experience
Discussion
Hey Folks
I'm new to the Ferrari forum but long time PH in the Aston Martin forum.
I'm looking to pick up an F12 but wondered if some owners should share any general feedback on their ownership experience. Is there anything I should look out for whilst I'm shopping? Keen to understand any servicing or warranty gotcha's specifically. What kind of money should I put aside for servicing and consumables etc?
Thanks
Chris.

Thank you. The V12V is a 6 speed manual, and I love manual cars so it’s not going anywhere. I take your point in terms of size etc, but I think they’ll still be very different experiences so that’s enough for me.
Appreciate all the insight.
What are thoughts on the Ferrari extended warranty? I’ve read some stories where people indicate it might not be worth the outlay. Any insights?
Thanks

I've got a V12V (non S) manual and a 599, I appreciate the F12 is a big step up from the 599 but in terms of form factor they are similar. The V12V is a totally different car in terms of the way it feels, regardless of transmission. I'm just about to finish converting my 599 to manual using factory parts, but they will still be a world apart in almost every way. They go very well together in the stable along with the 993 Turbo. I yearn for a 458 though, before they go silly money.
Good luck in your search OP.
Alex.
Thanks Alex. Mine is also the V12V manual 6spd - not the S. Agree - I think the F12 will be an entirely different driving experience. Good luck in your search OP.

Had mine for 3 years now and had the gearbox oil seal fail, £8k for that joy. No rust issues around rear louvers, at least yet, some cars do, some don't. No other issues, so overall it's a pretty reliable car given the performance. Sense of occasion is great, and looks way better than an 812. It does not feel that fast though after you get used to it....extra, 150 bhp or lose 100kg would be nice. Bad rear tyres and you are risking your life, due to free revving v12 it can let go so fast you won't catch it... the rubber must be in tip top shape and warm, then all is well.
Good to know - thanks. I have a Supercharged Atom - 310Bhp in 500Kg - so performance is something I'm used to - same problem with the tyres. Anything less than dry and hot and you're dicing with death

Apparently no one mentioned, so here it goes. Keep a alternator belt always with you and if you can the official instructions to change it, not a difficult job, but pebbles have a way to lodge themselves in-between the belt and ripping it appart.
Any mechanic can change it, as it is quite simple and accessible, so at least keep a belt.
Another thing to keep is a bottle of oil, they hold quite a lot but they do consume quite a bit as well (as they should really, high revving, big v12 engine is ought to) and only warn when it's dangerously low.
Hero! Thanks for the data. Any mechanic can change it, as it is quite simple and accessible, so at least keep a belt.
