Finally had time to pick up my recently purchased 812 Superfast and what a car ! Without doubt the most exhilarating car i've had the pleasure of owning. Its a Rosso Fuoco with Race seats. I picked her up today with my 18yr old son and we both grinned like Cheshire cats every one of the 160 miles home.
It feels so light on its feet like a 250kg lighter Sports car with an amazing agility no car of this size should have. It rewrites the laws of physics.! Surprise number one was how serenely it rode B roads even with the Bumpy Road mode switched off which is at odds with what some reviewers have reported. Based on my drive home i see no need to soften the dampers from its default setting.
The info entertainment screens and controls are so much easier and faster to use compared to my 488. The steering wheel controls for indicators, wipers and main beam control finally feels very intuitive to use in complete contrast to the other Ferraris i've owned.
So far i can't fault the 812 in any way and fully expect to keep her for a very long time.

Keeping the best for last is the absolute masterpiece of an engine, even Da Vinci would be proud of. Its quite simply the best engine ever put in a road legal car. It revs so quickly yet is as smooth as butter with a wailing scream. So much better sounding than my old 458 and 488 ever did.

Congrats, ferrari V12s are very special - imo one of the all time high car ownership experiences
Thanks. As you say there is nothing quite like a Ferrari V12 and this goes for all their V12s not just the 812.

Nice purchase Taffy, variety is the spice of life!
Thanks Baz
Its been a long time coming as i was waiting for my ideal spec and for prices to fall below £200K. However prices have only gone up so bit the bullet.

Wonderful, that engine alone makes you soon forget the purchase invoice. I hope you get lots of opportunity to stretch its legs, enjoy !
Thanks Seawise.
As you said before the 812 is pretty much full on, maybe too much sometimes but as an adrenalin pump unbeatable IMO. Its at complete odds with the way all modern cars are headed and probably last of an era.

I knew you’d enjoy it! Congratulations; sounds a lovely spec as well. Sounds a bit pathetic, but I felt a bit emotional after my first proper run out in mine. Sounds like this might be a keeper? Looking forward to seeing a couple of pics…..
Hi Gary.
Enjoyed reading your impressions on your stunning 812 bought from the same place. My sentiments on the 812 concur with yours 100%.

What are other 812 owners on here doing regarding the front plate as mine has never had one fitted. It had only done less than 1.9k miles however i intend using it more so don't want the worry of being issued another FPN for not displaying one.

Lovely - looks fast even stationary..... Wonder why it's raining so hard in the video but none hitting the ground?! Interior looks very nice too - love the seat colours and accents. I hope you checked the passenger side, as they didn't seem keen to show you that though smile

Enjoy - am sure you will.
Ha Ha.. Glad you enjoyed the background static which makes a great impression of falling raindrops.

Got the latest version from Carbonio sent over from the states, only took 4 days to arrive. The new design can be on/off in seconds with spring mount hooking on rear of spoiler. Think was about £230 delivered and very well engineered out of Aluminium. This is a fourdot fully legal front plate.

I had a Carbonia on both my 458 and 488 which were great. I was driving in a convoy of 13 Ferraris a week last Thursday when we were pulled into a layby by some cops who booked most for either no plate or dodgy spacing, sizes etc. Mine passed with no issues so will 100% get the new design Carbonia one.
Did you order direct from Carbonia and did you get a discount number to put with your order.? Its $295 plus $38 shipping when i checked this evening. I'd happily pay £230 delivered though.
Your new 812 looks fantastic by the way.

Sorry, just checked back on my PayPal and it came out at £241 so I think the same as what you quoted…. I looked around for a discount code but couldn’t find one.
Thanks Gary. Its handy to know the damage in good old English pounds . I'll order one first thing tomorrow.

I use number plate holders from carbonio for both my 488 and F8. They do one for the 812 as well. Excellent products, easy to fit, no drill.

I ordered one this morning as it seems the best solution by far.

one of the great ferraris imo
If not the greatest ?. Never ever driven a car quite like it !. The steering, despite being very fast geared coupled with Rear axle steering makes it hyper reactive although due to it being heavier and ultra precise allows you to place the car to the inch. I find the steering much better than my 488 and on par with the F8 which is also a brilliant Ferrari.
Right now i can't even imagine ever selling it. Its Ferrari at its best just like Porsche's gen 2 RS WP.

Looks glorious! Congratulations on a stunning purchase. Great choice re colour combo too. One or two have criticised the looks of the SF preferring it's predecessor, however it's the 812 for me all day long!

How are you possibly going to reign in all that power? I feel like a guilty little boy when I use all the horses in my GT3 yet you have another 300 at your disposal! biggrin
Having seeing both an F12 and 812 side by side I too prefer the latter's looks, all subjective I know. However the looks pale into insignificance when you drive the thing. Like a Porsche GT3 you feel at one with car's controls but lurking in the background lies a wild beast which you have to keep under tight leash. There lies a sense of drama and specialness at even sane speeds which I've never felt in any car before.
The steering is so quick yet precise and very intuitive. I'm actually quite shocked how much sheer brilliance Ferrari have managed to engineer into the 812.
I nearly bought another 812 in Grigio Ferro before Xmas but my kids insisted it had to be a Rosso one. I'm glad I listened and especially in Rosso Fuoco it looks incredible.

My 812 is insured under NFU as i have a Multi car policy with them which allows to me to switch cars whenever i want without incurring an admin fee.
I also use Lockton for my RS because NFU strictly exclude track day cover. Both great to deal .

Can you guys give some feedback on the power delivery, will it spin up easily in the dry? Will traction control always catch the slip or is caution needed? On a damp road at say 60-70mph will full throttle break traction?

I am used to the security of 4wd and the thought of 800hp going through the rear wheels scares me slightly!
I've only driven mine a week so still pretty careful with it. However even in that short time I find the power delivery very smooth to regulate if I want to drive in a steady manner, in complete contrast to my old 458 which had a very short spiky throttle response.
I think the 812 rewards very good smooth drivers and will bite the inexperienced who don't give it the respect it deserves. Its an easy car to drive slowly but switch to Race and you need to have your wits about you. After all we are talking about each driven tyre having to cope with 400BHP each.!
Its way more exciting than any other car I've ever driven which deserves respect although it has a finesse and polish to all its inputs unlike some other modern Ferraris I've driven. The steering has more heft than other Ferraris and much more accurate but very confidence inspiring.
I find no fault in its driving manners or drivetrain behaviour as it strikes a nice balance between being dangerous and exciting
in the other extreme.
Having said all that my Sales guy mentioned a lot of people don't get on with the 812 as they lack the smoothness and find the 800HP quite intimidating.
I advise driving one before financially committing to see how you get on. I suspect the same applies to the F12TDF but to an even greater degree which is too much car for me personally both in value and driving.
