Upside down photographs
Discussion
I have searched, but couldn't find an answer.
If I have a phone pic that insists on being shown on PH upside down, how do I correct it?
I have tried editing the photo on my desktop to rotate it and then used it via the beta thumbsnap, but it still turned it round.
I also tried uploading to flikr where it looked fine, until I linked to it from PH, whereupon it was inverted again.
Is the inversion based on some kind of picture format algorithm or is there a bit of picture data that needs editing?

If you can delete the exif data you can rotate it to whatever you want and it should stay that way
On a PC properties then details and remove properties and personal information - stick an x in the exif data and you can leave everything else there and it should rotate without remembering what it was
I tried it on a copy of your picture and it seemed happy to stay the right way up
Thank you for this, I'll give it a go.On a PC properties then details and remove properties and personal information - stick an x in the exif data and you can leave everything else there and it should rotate without remembering what it was

Re rotating and saving as different: The pic in my original post was done like that before uploading to flikr. It looks ok on there (click on link under photo) but is inverted on here. I don't use Windows, so I used the Ubuntu quick editor Shotwell; it must not be changing the part of the exif that is doing the orientation.
Thanks folks. I rarely use the phone camera as it is piss poor.
