How do I get rid of the irritating blue pop up in the bottom right hand corner of my screen?

Why do you keep inflicting this rubbish on us?

AdBlock Plus gets rid of it (once set to reject all, of course!)
Mine doesn't.

Did you have to input something to it?

My guess is this is a precursor to being denied access to the site if you have an ad blocker.

I added "pistonheads.com##.qc-cmp-persistent-link" and it seems to have done the trick.

The only way they will stop adding crap to make money from the users, is if the users stop using it. You have to vote with your feet or nothing will ever change
How will you then know if it's changed?

It's quite funny really.

People who were putting up with the adverts are now so pissed off with the blue tab they are blocking everything.

Talk about shooting yourself in the face.

tongue out

My guess is it is a combination of factors:

  • online use has evolved rapidly since they bought PH (increase in mobile, etc). Are forums increasing or decreasing? I sense decreasing as people moved to social media platforms (FB, etc)
  • profiting from advertising is hard, especially in a world of adblocking
  • monetising PH is hard - compared to some of their B2B offerings like Campaign
  • replatforming would be expensive, and potentially hard to build a business case
  • the original user base was loyal, but declined as Haymarket applied more stringent moderation to make it "family friendly"
  • combined with the challenge of competing with the likes of Autotrader for the classifieds
Ad blockers would not be necessary if the ads were not intrusive.

I would think they make most of the money from the sales listings, but even they are proliferated with intrusive ads.
