Rumours of an Aventador Performante for 2018 getting louder. Talk of the AP doing a 6:30min Nurburgring lap with the new active-aero and stickier tyres. This will put Lambo even further ahead of rivals and give it three models under the iconic 7min mark.

It's all perspective. A very fast car - and in isolation - it is right up there. It looks as super car as you can get.

But it's about the details The gearbox - well IMHO - it's a technical cul-de-sac. The sales guys have been able to sell it as being an emotional gear change. Well they used to when it was first launched. But, in my experience Corsa mode upsets the car around a track. Sport is better - but not as quick. an in direct comparison to a DSG - it's chalk and cheese.

But also, the steering in Comparison to a McLaren - well it's so heavy - no real finesse. In comparison to my old Speciale - it's almost like comparing the Industrial revolution to the space age.

Don't get me wrong - as I say in isolation - it's the full on experience. But I think the Aventador S will make the SV seem like what it is.

I am very much looking forward to the products under the guidance of Setfano Domincali - he just get's it - and it's all in the details!
Did you consider getting the gearbox remapped? Make gearchanges faster and smoother.

To be quite honest, I've had three - Coupe, Roadster and SV - all from new. In my opinion, a remap is not going to fix the issue. How many Aventador owners have had issues - whether is to do with "clutch recalibration or relearning bit points" etc... As I have said in previous posts - for a circa £300K car - you'd expect the gearbox to work......or evan gearboxes changed under warrentee?

I do not buy into the sales patter of a more emotional gear change experience - try going as flat out as you can, brake and change down for Pouhon at Spa - thank god for the massive tarmac'd run off!
It's a fair point. It should work right out of the box for a 300k car. Wouldn't dismiss an aftermarket remap completely out of hand, though. Some of the top remappers, like MRC, can work some pretty good magic at times.

Is that shark fin on the back instead of wing?
Looks like it. Could be an F1-style sharkfin, or a telemetry aerial for GPS tracking.
