I would like to thank all those Pistonheaders , who very generously contributed photographs and text material for the first stand-alone book on the Murcielago .(ISBN 9781845849221 )

PH has a long and wide reach , and was one very rich seam , through which material was obtained for the book from around the world .

I am just starting to collect material for a book on the Countach , so please get in touch if you would like your car featured or have any other material that you think might be useful . I will start a new thread for this shortly.

The Murcielago book was a collaborative work , and the Countach book will be too , and I believe it will be all the richer for contributions from fellow enthusiasts , owners , engineers , and dealers .

Thank you once again contributors , for all your help

Reeso -- Thank you for the encouraging words . It's my first book , and its been hard work , so I'm grateful for your cautious backing

Markiii -- I'm not quite sure what to say .
I'm an Eye Surgeon , with no experience in publishing , and Veloce who are an experienced and well recognised and respected publisher made all the decisions about pricing and marketing....something that i'm totally happy with.

All I can say is that Tonino Lamborghini wrote the foreword , but only after the full draft (57,000 words , 17 chapters , 193 photographs and a full index ) was sent to him for his prior inspection and approval .

Mike Pullen , Roberto Grimaldi , Ed Bolian and Simon George have contributed expert opinions , and respected Lamborghini dealers like Roy Cats , Bob Forstner , Amari , Supervettura and Kaaimans have provided photographs , as have many private individuals from around the world.

Its been great fun , and I've met many like minded individuals courtesy of the book , and travelled to places that I would not have been to otherwise .
Its been a case of minimising losses rather than maximising profits , but it will be well worth any losses incurred.

Ferruccio -- really looking forward to getting you on board for the Countach book.
RM Sothebys have been kind enough to agree to help , and some of the cars that have been through their hands are genuinely spectacular.

Firstly my apologies for the tardiness in responding .

845ste... I,m sorry , but the book is only in English.
We did in fact briefly consider a book with the text in 3 different languages , English , Italian and French , as Rod Grainger the CEO of Veloce Publishers was taken up with this idea . We had to give up on this idea when we found that it would be too complex to coordinate , and that the resultant book would be too expensive for the general market . Even so , I had to leave out some text and some photos to fit in with the agreed format.......I hadn’t realised how much more expensive it is to add additional pages and photos ...... Veloce were kind in allowing 193 photos , rather than the original 150-160 images in the contract.

Simonspider...... thank you for your very kind words. It was a labour of love , which I did not find easy , as it involved learning a completely new set of skills . It was also a totally collaborative effort , as I couldn’t have even dreamt of producing such a book without the input from all the other contributors. To have the input from the individual who has put the most miles on a Murcie in the real world , really gave credibility to the project . Thank you .

To all of you looking forward to opening the Christmas stocking on Tuesday morning , I truly hope that you will not be disappointed .

The current edition of Classic Cars magazine has an overly generous review of the book , which is very kind of them , so I am hoping that things might be OK on Christmas morning .

I,m hoping to finish the last 3 chapters of the KTM X-BOW book over the holiday period , and will then start on the Countach book sometime in the spring .

Have a lovely X,mas and New Year .

Really happy that you are enjoying it supersport , and thank you for taking the time to let me know .

Its a tight fit in my garage too , and while I can modulate the clutch and reverse the Countach literally millimetre by millimetre , the E-Gear on the Murcie (at least with my car , in my hands ) does not allow for such fine control .

That's pretty much all I dislike about the E-Gear...… I actually find the E-Gear very involving ---- I have to think much more when using this robotised manual transmission , while the traditional manual gearchange is almost second nature .

A huge amount of credit for the book needs to go to the many generous contributors

I am just starting on a book on the Countach === the inspiration for this will be from Alice in Wonderland and Isaac Newton !!

I received a real treat about 10 days ago , when RM Sotheby's sent me 89 professionally shot photographs of the 17 most important Countachs that have passed through their hands . It has taken a year's worth of negotiation to get these images , with discussions taking place with both their London and New York offices --- but what generosity on the part of RM Sotheby's towards an almost novice amateur writer .

Hi Mark ,

How lovely to hear from you again --- the pleasure was all mine , and well done for getting up at 2 AM !!
We certainly had a good time
Please do drop me a line at : murciebook@gmail.com
It would be good to get a contribution from a real enthusiast

Ferruccio --That's real dedication , taking out a layer of bricks to get your Murcie to fit !!
I gave a talk to the Malaysian Lamborghini Club last week , and had I known earlier , I would have loved to have dropped that little anecdote in .

Supersport -- people much more expert than me say that reversing up a slope slowly is one sure way of wearing out your clutch quickly .
Could you drive in nose first , and then reverse out in neutral under the force of gravity ?
