New to Me Murcielago Owner
Discussion
Cant quite contain my excitement - I have wanted a Merci since they where launched when I was an impressionable young petrol head
I have never been in a position to get into one, never had the budget - 3 years ago when I bought my V12 Vantage I saw their prices climb to levels I was sure I was priced out of the V12 Lamborghini
Fast forward 3 years and I have secured a 2003 Car in Giallo Orion from my good friends and customers over at Simon Furlonger Specialist Cars
I still cant quite believe I have managed to get to my goal of a manual v12 Lamborghini
Got a few weeks to wait now for the car to be prep'ed, new tyres etc - Its going to be a slow few week lol

How is it going to take “a few weeks” to prep!?
Service, Tyres etc - Items are not always super quick to get in to stock and their workshops backed up this week. A few of the buttons in the car have gone "sticky" so they are going to be refinished etcI want the wheels refurbished to silver, as I dont like them in black too!
I am in no rush so happy to wait for the little bits to be done

Splendid news and yes silver looks fab on those Hercules. I do hope you will use it as intended I owned it's twin a few years back ...
The black just looses all the nice details of the wheels in black. Oh i do intend to use it as intended, keeping the miles down will be the hardest part lol

Starting to think your jump from the vanquish is one i should have made.
Lovely!
really interested to hear how you get on with driving it and how it fits in with your life..
It really is a totally different car to the Aston. The Aston was far more rounded, smooth and is a more usable car for things like going shopping or off to play golf... Lovely!

This is a bit of a brute, not the most ergonomic driving position etc very loud, at least twice as loud as my V12V was with the secondary cats out - You feel it idling through your chest and have to raise your voice to talk to someone if your stood at the exhaust end! Its a much more physical drive.
Early days but done 120 miles and loved every single one of them, I have had so many people come to talk about the car, people have literally stopped in the middle of the road to take a picture!! One of my neighbours stopped over with his grandson who only the night before asked santa for a radio controlled Lamborghini - He was made up and it was lovely.

Thats some great info, thanks.
Is that a standard exhaust system then? I’m assuming there is no valve to open/close, I cant imagine a road car being any louder than this vanquish S ive just bought, its funny though, id probably be more comfortable with the Murci being THAT loud
Seems some very positive reactions to it, something that maybe the newer Lambos wouldnt get..
I think buying something completely impractical is where i should have gone, the vanquish is too close to our other cars, i should have bought more of an event like the Murci but i was put off by an Aventador test and swung to far back the other way.
Why did you chose the Murci and not the AV as they are similar money, i know the manual is a big draw (for me anyway) and the looks i prefer…
Do you intend to use it a fair amount? put miles on and enjoy as much as you can, go to events, take on tours etc? or is it just occasional local blasts then sit back with a drink and just look at it which i completely get to..
Wishing I hadn't shrunk away and gone safe so excuse the interrogation
My car has a CAT back straight pipe Larni system - You wouldn't hear the Vanquish next to it Idling or moving - And that isn't an overstatement. Is that a standard exhaust system then? I have always wanted a Murcielago since the day I first saw one. Like you it HAD to be a manual and i much prefer the look of the earlier car. I do have a soft sport of a light blue Aventador roadster with cream leather as per the launch car, but given the choice, I would opt for the Murci every time. I also agree that the more modern Lambos, Huracan and Aventador do get different reactions to earlier cars.
I do intend to use the car, do shows, drives and tours yes. I put 10k on my Vantage in 3 years and I expect I will do the same here. But that will also include a few blasts and then sit back have a drink looking at it lol

That explains much
that could be quite tiring if you’re planning on tours unless it has a quiet sweet spot.. there must be a valve operated one by now i’d have thought, i’ll have a poke around and see what there is.
With you on the AV colour choice to, looks stunning, i know its sounds a bit strange but there something about a classic that’s less shouty and less about money even though they’re very similar in purchase price, plus i just think the more smoothed out lines of the Murci are just a little more subtle, unlike the diablo before which is more akin to the AV in its eye opening appearance, not to take anything away from the Murci, far from it.
Some cracking weather coming up for you, maybe not early mornings with the ice but those afternoon runs into the sunsets should be epic! getting lots here at the moment in the Vanquish, 5 straight days with roof down runs, nothing better..
Ive been looking at the Murci market in germany and its very healthy for a buyer, big choice and not the normal LHD price hikes, thinking of moving on one in the new year, may move the GTC on for one, I will be watching and learning more on the Murci over christmas.
Hope to read of your ventures
Not a bad price vs £15k for the Capristo system.. https://www.m4tuning.com/fr/lamborghini-murcielago...
Not that loud in open though but i’m sure there’s probably options with regard to sports cats etc.
I will try and get a video of her starting up, I only have a phone for video so no idea how well it will come out?? That sv sounds super quiet in comparisonthat could be quite tiring if you’re planning on tours unless it has a quiet sweet spot.. there must be a valve operated one by now i’d have thought, i’ll have a poke around and see what there is.

And yes it can be a bit resonating inside but there are a few spots when cruising when you can hear the radio - At least it downs out the moans for the other seat lol
