On the main thread and separately I have been asked about arranging a CT meet in the UK.

Previously one of the Lambo UK club members had organised a 'Chateaux Run' abroad for members but it was mainly CT's that went. That isn't being organised this year. the club would be happy to support such an event and hope it wouldn't clash with any of theirs. I appreciate that many on here wont be in the club or like the idea of clubs. It isn't snobby, as they let me in!

Anyway, what is the view about organising an event and people supporting it? I have organised various events in Scotland including the Italian Car and Bike Day at Hopetoun house, where I had 350 cars and bikes and 3000 people paying to come in. I have also organised runs in Scotland for PH and non PH cars. I therefore have an idea about some of the issues and the amount of work that these events require.

My initial thinking is:

A country house hotel based venue, with a Friday/ Saturday overnight.
Plan to arrive Friday evening or Saturday before lunch.
A drive on Saturday including photo/ video taking. That would be ancillary to the drive and not the main purpose of it.
An informal dinner on Saturday night, to a fixed menu
A relaxed departure on Sunday.
Location in Yorkshire, but not a city centre or going into a city for the event.
Date in June
Open to any CT fan who wants to come whether with a CT or not, but not to replica CT's.

I appreciate you can never please everyone, so I it wont happen and those who organise need to make decisions and take the flak!

I know the Scottish CT owners want something and we could do that up here ourselves. However, if we could get say 15 CT's together at one time.............

Let me know your thoughts, good and bad.

Regards

Paul

How about the 6-8th June as a date?

It avoids fathers day and some events. It can never suit everyone.

I am not sure if it should be CT and diablo as the bigger the event the more difficult it is to plan. However, if people wanted to come along in a diablo, then they are more than welcome as would those who don't have a ct. However I think an overnight would be mandatory to join in?

Let me know. I can then check with s suitable hotel and get rates and a provisional room reservation and price. There is a big hotel in central york with car parking, but I could check the area out or get local feedback for a place and some nice routes to drive on.

I checked with the Royal /york Hotel. It has parking out front allegedly secure and would be reserved for us.

Can someone local let me know of country house hotels with at least 50 rooms in the york area?

Also nice driving roads with a good lunch stop and scenic traffic free drives! I know it is a contradiction in requests!

Hello fellow CT owners and others!

I have been in contact with a few of the places suggested on this thread and also as suggested on advice on the Yorkshire thread.

Most of the big venues are well used wedding venues and have lots of bookings over June which is peak wedding season.

I am waiting for prices and packages to be emailed to me. I am not sure if I will put the final details on the open forum in case it attracts the wrong type of attention. Any views on that

Could people confirm if they are interested and post and or email me? Could people give me an indication of what costs they would be prepared to accept for A nights stay and dinner per person?

It gives me some more to work on or to find alternative venues.

What is your budget for this type of event for two people per night. I have had some prices at about £250 per night which I think is a bit expensive for effectively a car get together
Can I have some views

Guys

I have tried various options and not sure what the take up will be for this. I suspect even if Diablo people come and clearly any CT enthusiast is welcome, that the numbers will be quite small. It is principally a Countach event though. If there is going to be a big take up and someone wants to get Diablos along, then possibly we could have one Hotel for each and a joint dinner? Lets wait and see. Some bigger hotels are main wedding venues and this is peak wedding season so prices were double what they are here.

Dates: Friday 6th to Sunday 8th June 2014

Venue: The Sportsman's Arms as recommended by people in Yorkshire Forum. This a small hotel near Harrogate. I wanted to stay out of towns to avoid issues with security for the cars overnight and attracting the wrong type of attention.

http://www.sportsmans-arms.co.uk

Room prices £100 per night for double/twin or £90 single with breakfast. Total of 9 rooms Fri/Sat Night. Your call when you arrive, but if Saturday, the plan would be to be away by 10am for a run and lunch somewhere and back by about 5pm. Sunday will be a breakfast and departure day.
The details for the run and lunch venue will not be posted on here and will be given out in person to those attending.

Food will probably be fixed menu at about £30 per head plus drinks. I will negotiate that when we know the numbers.

This is a 'first come first served' basis. Book directly with the hotel to reserve and say you are coming for the the Lamborghini event.

If the hotel gets fully booked then there is another Hotel about 2 miles away.

Please also email me and post on here or add to the list if you a re coming.

Hi

I have spoken to the Hotel about access as some people were concerned about one way in which is a very narrow road. The access we will use is across the bridge and NOT the way the Sat nav will show you down a hill and very narrow single lane road.

Please book as early as you can, as the Hotel only has 11 rooms and have limited hold for our function.
The Yorke Arms is the next nearest hotel which may be of the same size although quite a bit more expensive.

Not exactly proved popular at this stage! If there are only three cars coming I wonder if this is worth it? I know nearer the time people will possibly chase up on this but the Hotel will almost certainly not have accommodation as we can't reserve for that.
Thoughts?
Anyone else genuinely interested?
Two from Scotland to drive 400 miles to meet one other car isn't making sense at this stage
