Jalpa value any idea what this car is worth?
Discussion
Hi all, I am really struggling to decide what this car is worth in the real market. UK supplied RHD and a 1985 car with 5 owners, 75000 Kilometres so around 45000 miles.
Very original, but starting to look like it could do with a repaint. I can see that there are none for sale in the UK other than one at a dealer that has been for sale for a long time. If you assume no faults etc what do you think is a realistic value for a private purchase? Any pointers would be very much appreciated.

Hi Bob, thanks for the pointers, the car is mechanically on the button, it recently did a 200 mile round trip at the weekend and no issues. Colin Clarke sorted it out years ago (sodium valves et all) and its been used sparingly since, but with regular servicing. It ran down to Switzerland a few years ago as well on a trip to the Alps. Paint wise its just going a bit flat and where water sits on the rear fin it has caused it to bubble slightly. I hear one went for 86k at auction in the UK earlier this year but I cant find it, any ideas?

Since I'd had the car I'd noticed the response wasn't as lively as the others I have but put it down to "just one of those things". Then it snapped, luckily whilst backing out of the garage.
I did the work with my Dad so got to see first-hand the condition of the cable and why it had worn so badly. It ran through some protective tubing but the cable itself had stretched over the years (so dampening throttle response) and eventually it had started rubbing on some exposed metal until it began to fray and eventually snap. We ended up running an excellent cable from Venhill alongside the tubing and the difference was remarkable. It was a lot of work but worth every hour.
How odd, mine did exactly that in 1997 and again last year, I knew the signs the second time though. Throttle seems to get stiffer and stiffer and then occasionally it stuck down when i pumped it before turning the engine over. Hello i thought, i bet that cables fraying again. Its a crap design as water ingress through the plastic ends and outer coating over time start to rust the cable and then it goes. Night and day difference once changed though.I did the work with my Dad so got to see first-hand the condition of the cable and why it had worn so badly. Well, the auctioneer has been out and I was pleasantly surprised by his valuation of 75/78k. Apparently the market is good for classic Lamborghinis unlike 1980`s 911`s, ferraris of the same age and etypes generally, that have been flooding the market.
The auctioneers comments on the paint were, leave it, its original, people would rather see exactly what its like, rather than a tarted up for auction car, so thats exactly what I am going to do.
So its booked in for sale at Brightwells in June at the Bicester sale. Tremendous thanks once again to everyone for all the input on the forum, cheers chaps/
