Hello all

This is my first post on the McLaren page, having been a keen reader for six months and dreaming!

I placed my order yesterday at Ascot McLaren for a 570GT for March 17 delivery.

I've ordered it in Silica White with black and Almond white sport interior. Stealth wheels with red callipers, sport exhaust and stealth exhaust finish. Also GT Upgrade pack and Carbon Fibre interior pack.

I'm thrilled skinny and can't wait to get it!

I dealt with Chris Hewitt who was very helpful and they gave me a fair price for my Boxster.

Hi Anubis

I preferred the styling to the S. The S looks a little untidy at the back IMO. Also i liked the additional load space and the glass roof

I went to McLaren demonstration day at Foxhills golf club at Ottershaw Surrey on Friday. I had the chance to drive a GT for an hour in the company of a McL driver.
It made realise i can't wait till March, so asked the question of Ascot re earlier delivery.
Found out on Saturday it should be delivered just before Xmas!!
Note to my wife-there's my Xmas pressie sorted!

'Earlier Delivery' Is this a new 'fast track, avoid the queues' premium option? Nothing would surprise me!

I just happened to ask on Friday, any chance the car could come sooner? The salesman said they might have a December slot.

I think it was because i ordered the car at beginning of this month and knew exactly what spec i wanted. Nothing more sinister! And no money changed handsrolleyes

Nice one marknc

i'm never going to want to track the car and i preferred the lines of the GT over the S. The opening rear deck just made it a bit more versatile for my wife and i to do some nice trips in.
Pebble beach is a nice part of the world-would love a round of golf round theresmile

Well, I made the choice, and GT arrived last week.
Low key colour (blade sliver), Standard exhaust, no exterior carbon, will use most days.

Amazing difference in personality when you turn the dial from normal to track. (Although I doubt mine will go on one, despite visiting Silverstone paddock in photo below)

Compared to competitors, it really is more of a GT. I have the GT pack, and the sound system is really good, and with the quieter exhaust it can be appreciated. One of the best I've heard.

Seats are comfortable and access is easy with lower sills. The slightly slower steering, noise quietening tyres, and softer springs make it much more relaxing to drive on long journeys than similar cars. I did 6hrs straight last week with no issues.

It's a mistake to think the GT is a softer S (like Evo did). It's for a different purpose and you (PH...) should buy the one which suits the intended use. If you see the de-tuning as a compromise, and you want to be on track or using it mainly for adrenaline blasts then go for the S. If you want a road car with theatre and comfort, go for the GT. (Although, as said, the GT is certainly not lacking in excitement when in track mode).

I agree that engine sound is still not the best, but that's another good reason to go for the quieter version, IMO. I drove an early 12C and it gave me a headache!

Mine is currently with the Heathrow valet parking team - hope they're not appreciating it too much...

Really pleased that you're happy with your GT footsoldier. Mine is due week 50 so mid December all being well. I've chosen the sports exhaust option and do wonder if i've made a mistake, in that it will be too noisy and spoil my enjoyment of the car. The cars i test drove didn't have the sports exhaust, so basic schoolboy error on my part! C'est la vie!

i do agree with Rambo Lambo that the design of the GT is far better than the S. The rear of the S from the window back is messy IMO but the GT just flows.

The manual for the 570 states 2095 with mirrors out, the mirror folds 48-50mm per side, I just measured it.
+1

When i placed my order for the GT in September, my primary concern was to ensure it would fit in my garage which is 2200mm wide at its narrowest part-the entrance. Didn't trust the information from Ascot either, so went old school and took a tape measure with me to the test drive. With the mirrors open, i measured 2100mm(give or take a mil) and 2004mm closed. I even checked the highest point of the door when opened from the ground, as i have overhanging metalwork for the electric door to consider at 2.1m. It was 2m exactly. I haven't got the car yet(sore subject) but i'm now confident it will fit in.
