Mclarens haven't seen the same meteoric appreciation of some of their competitors in Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche but prices bottomed out 2/3 years ago and bounced back a little and have stabilised for now.
As the brand continues to grow and people come to appreciate how good they are they may play catch up and buck the trend when the bubble bursts and others come down ( which they have to ).
Sorry but given a choice of buying a 997.1 GT3 or a F430 or a 12C at similar money is a no brainer for me. I would take the 12 C everytime
In 3 years time I don't think you would of made £25k on the 12C but you certainly wouldn't lose as much as the equivalent GT3 or F430 purchased at todays prices.
Demand for Mclarens is continually increasing and early entry models will always be appealing at the £100k price point compared with the more established brands with older and inferior products.
When the new younger generation of supercar owners come aboard the volumes of early models will struggle to keep pace with the increasing demand due to low production fixed volumes but that may be another 10 years away.
If you have done well out of the GT3 and fancy a change now would be a good time to cash in and a 12C would be a great place to reinvest it whilst upgrading IMHO
I love my gt3 but drove a 12c and 570s courtesy of Ascot mclaren last weekend. I was very impressed. Time for a change now.As the brand continues to grow and people come to appreciate how good they are they may play catch up and buck the trend when the bubble bursts and others come down ( which they have to ).

I think that one of the issues with the argument that the 720s is £240-£280k, thereby supporting the pricing of the older cars, is that they won't stay at that level for long. Once the early adopters have their cars, the discounting will start to shift volume and it will be the 650s all over again. Then the spider willl arrive and then the next one etc etc.
I reckon the 12c has found its level at £120k or whatever and the 650s will get there too. Lot of car for that money but they can't really be compared with a 997 gt3 as Porsche isn't really making anything like it any more and won't again. Definitely not the same for McLaren as the 720s is fundamentally the same idea as the 12c or 650s just better/more/faster.
The 997 gt3 also has 40 years of engineering, design and development to back it up and it shows, regardless of whether it's more your thing than a McLaren or not.
Cant see 12c prices sliding a lot from here but they might drift down a bit depending on what happens with the 720 as that will knock on the 650 in the end. In reality, nobody really knows, so the best thing to do is climb in, get your foot down and try not to grin too much......
Had my GT3 for nearly 5 years now. Value has gone up 25k since purchase. I'm sure this will not continue price increase has slowed. I'm read the 12c has hit it bottom and is on the increase. Its a great compliment hat people are putting miles on them, shows they are easy to drive. Been in and driven 12c and 570s fabulous cars and I really wan to change. I would use it the same use as my GT3, weekend blast fun car. The GT3 gives my something the 12c doesn't and visa versa.I reckon the 12c has found its level at £120k or whatever and the 650s will get there too. Wish I could have both.
