Despite all the mud slinging, I have always maintained that they are fantastic cars and would own another - seems that now is the time...

Congratulations! Is it the Stealth model from New Forest? Great looking car if so.
Indeed it is and Thanks, although deal done through Ascot due to relationship and the car being owned by McLaren.

Congrats; thats a stunning looking 720!

Any idea of the story behind it, why they only made 3 and are they all right hand drive?
Thanks 355.

Not sure why they only made 3 but this is the only RHD one in existence. The fact it's still owned by McLaren and failed to sell for list is probably an indication as to why they only made a few as you could have speced one the same bar the red "hand-painted" stripes and saved the best part of 60-70k.

The only annoying thing is it doesn't have the carbon bumpers however, I suppose they can be retrofitted at a later date.

Drooling over the car and noticed something: The McLaren logo between the exhausts and on the bonnet have the pre-facelift red ‘swoosh’ which I understand was phased out in June or a July 2018. My January 2018 720S has the same red swoosh logo. I wonder if the original red logo was specifically retained on your car to complement the red pinstripes. Attention to detail.

Lovely car! Hope to see it in the flesh at some point.
Thank you.

I think your right regarding the red swoosh being retained to compliment the red pin striping, if you look at the Autocar release information you can see that the swoosh is silver but I'm assuming in build they opted for red.

Haha, I bore easily and having had 6 over the past 18 months I've exhausted most of their model range. wink

WOW WOW WOW.

Finally got around to picking her up earlier. I had actually forgotten how good these were and how fast it is, it's almost scary how quickly it picks up pace.

Couple of minor electrical gremlins but I'm using the forum advice in that they either disapear after some driving time, or after leaving and entering the car as to which they have.

One thing that I would like a lead on if anyone has suffered it, and I'm hoping it's something as simple as a wheel balance - but when traveling at speed the steering wheel has a massive wobble, when you press on it almost becomes light and doesn't install a great deal of confidence - has anyone else had an issue like this or know what it might be, it also seems to vary on road surfaces which is odd if it is a wheel out of balance.

Anyways will post some pics up as soon as I get chance smile

So the wheel wobble was sorted with a simple wheel balance, steering feels light when pressing on but may be Alignment.

Car had all latest SW installed and everything brought upto spec prior to collection.

Ambient lighting wasn't working last night but did after a restart.

Suspension degraded error comes up frequently when starting but dissapears after a few minutes driving. I started it up this morning after the school run to be greeted with power steering failure error and it not actually working, a restart also fixed that one.

Still in love and despite the glitches it does feel better built than the early car I had originally.

Could very well need a high speed wheel balance. The MC version of the Pirellis have sound deadening foam that gets loose. Before you get the balance done, have them remove any loose pieces, taking the tyre off the bead.
A wheel balance sorted the issue, they were significantly out of balance but thanks for the heads up and if it starts again I will follow your advice and get them checked out.

Car seems to be getting better with use, couple of hundred miles in and no error messages to speak of at all today. I am struggling however to get anywhere near the quoted mpg figures on the 650s thread.

I don't know what it is about this car, it's savagely quick but the actual sense of speed it gives is astounding, anything I've driven previously doesn't feel as quick even at the same speeds, it really is a remarkable piece of engineering.

How many mpg? Enjoy!
Surely smiles per miles is the relevant question?!

Hope your enjoying it Turbo.

Are you clear of the running in miles yet?
Just need some reference, I do tons of smiles and no more than 20mpg with my LT on a/b roads, spirited driving.
From my brief estimation I don't think Im actually achieving double digits however, I do have a heavy right foot and its mainly around town. I dropped it off for full PPF earlier so once its back i will fill it up and give a more accurate figure.

355 Im in love - i believe I have cleared the running in miles and it most definitely puts a smile on my face biggrin

So I received the car back from PPF yesterday, Whilst it was in I also managed to pick up a set of additional super light wheels in the diamond cut specification.

I'll be honest I'm not sold on these as I think the originals with the red detail suit it better. If anyone's interested I'll probably be selling these and also have a set of brand new winter tyres for sale as well.

Pics below and a final one of collection day with the red wheels.

Thanks Guys.

Have already text my PPF guy as the wheels are stored at his place and have asked him to ceramic coat them in anticipation of getting them put back on.

Looks like these are up for sale haha.

Will get some more pictures of the interior up this week.
