I've been subscribed to his Youtube channel for some time and enjoy a lot of his stuff. However, this anti-Mclaren crap he seems to spout at every given opportunity is really starting to grate me, it is coming across as personal, maybe he just didn't get his own way at some point (maybe wouldn't give him a car to review or similar) and has been sulking ever since?

For example, one of his latest videos, one of him collecting a new car, a nice 580-2 Huracan from Rybrook in Bristol, I was enjoying it up until he picks up on what I think is an orange 720 or a 765LT driving by and announces "oh look an orange turd driving by" rolleyes

I know I shouldn't care and whenever he does it I make sure I give the video a dislike / thumbs down (I believe the ratio of likes to dislikes matters?) But after this latest childish remark, it had me wondering what the cause of all this Mclaren butthurt is about and figured someone on here may know the history?

Believe he had a rotten experience with a new 720S when they first came out...car had numerous faults and the service from Mclaren was pretty poor...obviously that was his side of things.
Oh ok, well that makes sense and makes it a little more understandable. Still, that must have been nearly 4 yrs ago! He just needs to wind it back a bit now. He more than most should know one bad experience doesn't define a brand and when you're following a channel of this nature any obvious bias, whether negative or positive, just kills any credibility.

Therefore a youtube "review" is largely worthless. TGE is in the minority as he says it how it is.
But he doesn't say "how it is" He makes comments based on one experience he deemed as below par. He then just talks about ALL Mclarens falling apart, ALL being unreliable, being turds etc etc. We all know that is rubbish. So it is not "how it is" It has even gone past simply giving his opinion, he just seems to make silly digs at every given opportunity and it spoils what could be an easy to watch, entertaining channel.

Before I bought mine I did a lot of research, this was going to be my 1st supercar, I was a little nervous about spending this sort of money on a car, so I talked to owners, ex-owners, specialists (not just Mclaren specialists) and come to the conclusion that yes, there are some examples of bad experiences and bad cars, it was no different to most other supercar brands and in the main the ownership experience is a very positive one. And what bad experiences there were, they seemed to be magnified when coupled with a bad dealer experience. And problems seem to be more with certain dealers than the cars themselves.

I think the issues are those that are common with a relatively new car manufacturer finding their way. I imagine if you went back to the early days of, for example, Ferrari, you'd come across similar frustrations. Silly / minor issues that you wouldn't expect on a new and expensive car, then exaggerated by dealers not having stock, poor customer service etc.

I had an issue with mine shortly after buying it. I contacted the dealer (McManchester) and the next day they turned up with a covered low-loader, took my car and dropped off a brand new GT for me to drive around in. Couldn't fault them. And every query I've had since they've more than impressed. I think Mclaren are getting there. I really hope they do. The cars are superior in so many ways to the competition, and they're British! Now more than ever we need British Manufacturing to thrive!

And I did read about your issues and it does sound really bad. Just can't get my head around it. Totally opposite to what I experienced and I bought a used one at a lower value?!

I find Mr JWW has some good content. They have a decent studio, do their best to carry out reviews, they have their own little circuit and some very impressive cars in their collection! Haven't picked up any bias either.

Those are unacceptable when buying a new car and I'm not surprised it's put you off, £200k and you don't expect that! Most of those things look like they'd be easy to sort so I imagine as a used car it would be fine? Someone would have bought a nearly new 600LT with a good chunk of change off the asking - and I imagine the dealer sorted them this time around.

I imagine someone really got their arse kicked over that. Like you say, was an easy solution. When McManchester took mine and dropped of the GT, ok I was disappointed that I couldn't use my car for what turned out to be 5 days, but I had a free Mclaren to use and compare, to put as many miles on as I wanted and a full tank of fuel to use, so it turned out to be a positive. They should have done that for you, I imagine you'd still have it now.

Hopefully it won't put you off forever. You must know that that wasn't the typical experience. Maybe in the future dip your toe again but try another dealer. Be a shame to miss out on owning one of these, its next level stuff!
