Why is the 650s so cheap?
Discussion
650s prices seem to be stuck at around £90-105k
It's replacement, as in the subsequent super series car - 720s - is around £170-220k
That is a huge gap in values, with only sports series cars (mainly 570s) available to plug it.
Seems odd - any thoughts as to why this is? Do most people prefer the Sports series cars to the 12C/650s cars?

Yes. I've been looking at this myself. Currently own a 12c spider which I love but seriously considering switching to a 650s spider for not a great deal more. Was considering a 720S but think they have to come down a bit from here
looking at Spiders only, the gap seems even more crazy - £100k ish for a 650s (perhaps a bit less) vs £200k for 720s.720s prices were in free fall but seemed to have recovered well. 650s not going up at all - I would have expected the increased 720 prices to pull up the 650s too.
I guess it's the black sheep McLaren!!

I had this choice last year, i preferred the sports series, reasons being:
Newer model with Monocell 2
Less on warranty
Its a weekend/fun car so not overly bothered about the benefits of the proactive suspension
And subjectively, prefer the looks and interior of the sport series
All in all it just seemed the better bet for me.
Makes sense - thanks for replying Newer model with Monocell 2
