Bmw 530e ordered?
Discussion
I've got a 48 hour test drive today of a 530e Msport
So far very impressed. Averaged 40+mpg on a 35 mile m-way drive. I have it on charge now and will see how I do on the commute to work tomorrow. (23miles). The performance is impressive, and totally seamless as to whether you are on the ICE or electric motor.
The new idrive is very impressive to, and I love the ability to write characters on top of the idrive controller for address input.
I have a Merc E350e over the weekend so will be interesting to see how they compare.

I finally took delivery of my 530e last week. So far I'm very impressed. Lovely to drive with a very well sorted drivetrain. My 23 mile commute was 253mpg on the way in and 175 mpg on way home (full battery at the start of each drive. At this rate my trips to fill the small fuel tank will be few and far between.
First 'week' of commuting over in the new car. I charge at home and and work with 23 mile trip each way. I've had between 160mpg and 260mpg so far reported via the app for each trip and I'm driving at same speeds as normal. I use max edrive for most of the trip, knocking in to auto for a big mway hill. I can arrive on the last few electrons in the battery in this way.
I should save about a grand a year in commuting fuel... Which is nice.

I'm really warming to the vdc suspension on mine. It certainly becomes 'taut' in sport mode but still comfy unlike the a4 blackedition i had before. The adaptive mode is great to. On a fast b road it was a little floaty in ecopro mode.. Switched to adaptive and ride smoothed out as it firmed up just enough to get rid of the float... Very impressive
A few weeks back I did a 120 mile run down the a303 and back roads to north Somerset. I 'made progress' the whole way and averaged 51mpg for the trip (plus 1 battery charge). My 2012 Merc e350d would not have done so well. The tech is really impressive. If you do a lot of long trips with no charging available at all then a 520d will be for you. But that is a slower noisier beast....

I'm not sure your info is correct. I was home at about 1900 tonight and the car had used all the ev battery. It is now 100% charged... so in 2.5 hours. I have a type 2 charger and bmw type 2 charge cable (not the domestic
3 pin 13amp transformer jobby) and understand it will pull 16amp. It certainly charges far slower the couple of times I've used the 3 pin plug transformer jobby.
