Hi All,

I notice that there is quite a lot of talk about EVEZY on the leasing deals thread so I thought I would start one here. Below is a copy of the post I put up on the SpeakEV forum a few weeks ago. Thought it might be a good starting point. Also if people want to post their experiences and referral codes in here it can help people who are taking the plunge!

First some background

EVEZY are a short term electric car lease company with a unique business model.

1) You rent the car month by month, no deposit and no minimum term (well a month minimum technically but you pay in advance)
2) Rental includes insurance (£1000 excess though in fault claims) up to 1000 miles. month, tax and all maintenance costs
3) you do not get a key, you use an app to lock and unlock the car.
4) You can pick cars up and drop them off and "depots" around the country.

You can use a referral code (see below wink ) to get £50 off your first month.

My experiences so far.

I phoned on Wednesday and asked for a 120 i3. No problems at all; arranged pickup the next day from Windsor

Took the train to Windsor only to realise it is a 4 mile trip to the pickup point, I stupidly decided to walk. The pickup point is not obvious and is actually someone's house (the cars are all parked in a big yard) There were at least 3 i3s and a few Zoes there as well.

Once I find the car (the reg is on the app) it connect to the app via bluetooth and a button unlocks the car. The car was brand new and still had the plastic seat covers on so I was pleasantly surprised (note there is no guarantee that this will always be the case.)

The only hitch was that the 3 pin cable to charge the car is in the front boot and the button on the app did not seem to work. I phoned them and it is a known problem that they are working on (hint to EVEZY, if this is an issue don't put the charging cable in the boot!) Fortunately I RTFM and found the emergency release wire in the cabin so used that to open and move the cable into the back boot.

Car is great, there is a dash-cam but you soon forget about that, otherwise it is just like a normal i3. When I got home I was able to activate the BMW connected app and set preconditioning times etc so that all works like a normal car.

Overall I am very impressed, the lease is cheaper than most other places and far more flexible, it also includes insurance so that is another saving. My only concern is the app but it is working fine so far. I have only had to enter the password once but do now carry my reading glasses everywhere I go!

My referral code is in my sig. I know others have codes as well so feel free to contribute and people can pick a code at random!

Please feel free to ask any more questions if you have them.

EVEZY Referral code 61163 (you get £50 off your first month I get £50 off too...win win!)

I looked into this but there are two things which put me off:

1. The excess is quite high and the common excess insurance policies won’t cover rentals longer than 30 days or so. I couldn’t find one which would cover longer anyway. Happy to be proven wrong. Be aware anyone who thinks they’re already covered if you haven’t read the small print.

2. There’s a dash cam with remote telemetry. They can monitor all of your driving remotely. I don’t mind a black box but a full on dash cam is a step too far for me! It wasn’t clear on the website if they also used the microphone.
Number 1 worried me initially but they I thought to myself, I have never had a claim in 20+years and the insurance alone on this is saving me £30 a month. So in 3 years I will have saved the £1000. Just need to not crash for 3 years! Hows that for some man maths wink

Point 2 worries me not at all. If they use the camera all they are going to hear is a lot of swearing and bad singing most of the time. Also I think they state they only look at the data in the event of a claim.

They have just issued me with 2 certificates of insurance. One covers business use and one covers SD&P. The cover is with a strongly rated insurer.
Did you have to ask for those as I have not seen any certificates?

Don't need the polar plus app as there is a polar card in the glovebox.

Really glad to see people signing up. I have had zero problems with the app connecting to the car so far. It is bluetooth you just need to be connected to the internet once a day and it downloads an electronic key for the day. I don't even need to open the app for that to happen, it is open all the time in the background on IOS though (in otherwords I never double tap and close the app on the phone.

A Sainsbury car park in Fallowfield. There was another one there at the same time.

It's a 19 plate and I get the impression it's only been driven to be delivered.

Obviously I've not driven it much but first impressions of the I3 are incredibly positive.
Congrats, I am sure you will love it!

A few people on the SpeakEV forum have been looking into it but as you say it sortof falls outside the usual hire coverage because it's a monthly contract that auto-renews, not a policy for a fixed period.

That being said apparently a guy on YouTube managed to get a custom 6 month contract from Evezy so he could avail himself of the ELEV grant early. Don't know how that works given I thought you had to have owned the car for that long.
You do not need to own the car for any length to get the grant as far as I know. You can even get it if you have a lease. I think it is EVEZY that are saying they will only provide proof of stewardship of the car if you commit to 6 months.

If you buy a car you can get the grant before taking delivery. You could even sell the car after a week and still have the charger.

Looks like they have a full waiting list for the i-Pace so have removed it from the website. Good news I guess

Are you swapping out the i3? I'm planning on running both as with the saving on fuel, insurance and maintenance costs the i3 is costing almost nothing in comparison to the car it has replaced and a lot less than leasing something similar but ICE powered.
I am swapping, the i3 is a little small for getting things like bikes in the back and I could do with the extra range.

Out of curiosity what did you do to get the spec sheet for the i3 from Evezy? I asked and was simply told it would be a 2019 car with Comfort package, whereas on SpeakEV you posted a full options list so obviously spoke to the right person or said the right thing.

Beggars can't be choosers, but would be nice to know to tide me over until the pickup.
It was Patricia that sent it out for me too.

The slow charger does the job pretty well I think, it'd only be an issue if you get back home from a long drive with barely any charge remaining and then unexpectedly need to go on another longish drive. But even then it depends where you live and how far away the nearest rapid charger is. There's a couple of rapids 5 mins away from my home (one Polar - so free), so if I arrive home with say 10% left, I could just scoot over there and be back up to 90% in about 40 mins I reckon.
I reduced my battery to about 28% today. plugged it in at 6:30pm says it will be at 100% by 8:30am tomorrow on the 3 pin charger.

So I registered at the end of last week, had to chase them 3 times to get accepted. Finally accepted after they closed yesterday

Called them this morning to try and get an i3, told I’m on a list with no idea of how long it will be or where I am on the list

Not the greatest of starts but I guess you get what you pay for
Their service can be a bit "startup" but when you are sitting in a newish i3 including charging and insurance for £399/month it will all seem worth it!

My initial thought was that looks like an ecotricity charger. If it is the same hardware that explains it. Ecotricity chargers have real problems with CCS, especially if the car is low on charge when you plug in. I have used Polar chargers twice and both times it has worked perfectly.

Ugh, that sucks. I use mine for commuting so would be pretty inconvenienced if at the end of the day it wouldn't open.
I thought they had the ability to unlock the car remotely if the app was not working or if your phone died?

Problem is you rarely need the range for urban driving, it is for the long trips on the motorway that you need it, and as you said here is where they are much less efficient.

Ah, so just an idea at the minute. I won't hold my breath then as the i-Pace is proving difficult enough..
I suspect software integration is an issue. Getting the App working with a car that has over the air updates must be a challenge! Imagine if the wonderful new update means you cannot unlock and drive your car!
