Hi all

Wanted to ditch the euro 5 diesel Volvo for a bit now for obvious reasons.

Spotted a very good deal on leasing I pace through salary sacrifice at work (£310/month net pay for 12000 miles PA, for the S). Test driven one and its very nice.

No one has really mentioned them on the forum for some time. On paper they sound great but I'm aware they haven't sold well and thats probably why the lease deals are so good.

I'm a bit twitched at a few things:

- boot space for a family of four (the other car is currently an A3)
- charging speed and availability of compatible fast chargers
- JLR's infamous reliability

Anyone with one that can comment? Any other thoughts?

Thanks.

Thanks both.

Boot size isn't great due to the roofline but I would imagine it would be larger than an A3.
It'd be replacing an XC60 which can take a lot of stuff for a car with a not massive footprint. Hence my concern.

Incidentally, does that price you've got already factor in the upcoming drop in BIK or will it get lower again when that takes effect?

May delivery I think, with the 0%.

Boot fine for our family of 4 but I guess it depends how old the children are and what tat that brings ...
Agh! Thanks though! 5 and 9 so volume of tat is reducing,

I think it is expensive to buy, and I wouldn't dream of actually buying one. But at £310/month for all running costs bar electricity with no deposit....

I don't think range will be an issue. Once or twice a year it might be an hours inconvenience. As an example, this year, Leeds->Birmingham Airport. Would have had to charge on way home at end of a long redeye flight which wouldn't have been great. Unless there's some kind of valet park and charge service at airports these days?

However I worry more whether all the suitcases would have fitted! Roofbox is probably an answer. Interestingly two colleagues are also looking but one has an A6 Avant as second car and the other a T5 Camper.

Hmmm, decisions decisions.

Surely a quick trip to the dealer will sort out the boot concern issue?
I've stood and stared at the boot space for while. Find it hard to visualise, short of turning up with a bunch of suitcases.

I know its smaller than the XC60, and I also know that everyones requirements vary. Just looking for thoughts, the fact that other families of four find it ok is reassuring for example.

Sounds like the charger network is good enough, which was my other big concern.

All responses appreciated.

For the sake of closure (for now). The damn offer has sold out, I'm a newbie to the leasing game and didn't think it would go that fast. I've emailed to ask about cancellations - as I had actually decided to go for it!

Thanks all.

Hmmm. Budget creep. The E-Tron is £450. Bigger boot too.

I'm surprised the E-Tron is more expensive
I-Pace was a limited special offer, really annoyed I hesitated.

From my perspective I'm looking for cost effective white goods transport. If its comfy/fun/interesting then all the better. If it reduces my environmental impact then great. The BIK and good lease deals means it has to be electric if going this route. The NHS lease scheme seems to not have Tesla as an option currently.

Something fun in the garage for the weekends is then the plan. I still really miss my M3, but using it to commute was crap.

Euro 5 diesel is going to get banned from cities soon enough. The iPace deal would have cost almost the same as my yearly running costs for the XC60 and as such made a lot of fiscal sense. At £450 the e-tron is slightly harder to justify but is still only around £200/month more than I'd project the Volvo costs at. All it takes is one reasonably big bill and that gap narrows a lot.

The delay on my part was part boot space concern and partly assessing the impact on my pension and annual allowance charges (you may or may not have seen the furore in the medical world about the changes to the AA and its impact, once you're in the lease scheme coming out can generate some eyewatering bills).

Still pondering. If I get a cancelled I-Pace offer then I'm jumping on it. E-Tron hmmm.....

If you are truly looking for cheap A to B transport have you looked at the MG ZS EV?
Too small I think. Not great NCAP ratings either. Plus, if I'm honest, decision is never going to be 100% accountant like! I like my cars too much to be completely blind to what I'm buying.

They got a second batch of cars. Slightly more expensive but never mind.

Order in for an S in Caesium blue (no choice on anything but colour). May 20 delivery. Very pleased.

Now do I get kicked of the subforum for starting to plot the Porsche that this will free up the money for?!

Possibly getting a little ahead of myself (always like a kid at Christmas with new cars!) but what do I need to run one of these then?

Registered on zap map. Pod point for home is part of the package. You need to pre register with public charging companies? Two? More than that? Do they vary a lot in quality/availability/cost?

Oh and how do people find them in snow? All season tires as standard I think?

Cheers.
