Prompted by the leasing thread and with all the offers flying around on these at the moment, thought this may be a decent place to discuss, especially for those new to EV like myself.

Thanks to rich12 who initially posted up the offer by Express vehicle contracts, mine was a N-Connecta, £248p/m on a 1+23 with 8,000 miles pa. I worked through the figures and it was a no brainer to get rid of my old Subaru and into a new Leaf - move over Greta, I got this wink

It does seem to be a bit low tech battery wise compared to the newer stuff, and no digital dash makes it look a bit old skool

But for a 2 year deal, at relatively low cost it should be a good option, most of our miles are a 15 mile each way commute and then kids activities in the locality and a 40 mile round trip a couple of times a week

I wouldn't personally buy one now, I think that the new VWs will be a much better option, but the downside of leasing is that you need to change car when the current lease goes back!

Hopefully tech will have moved on significantly when this one is up
Pretty similar to my thoughts. Given the rate of EV development, these 40Kwh versions are going to be pretty old tech in 2 years time so I don't fancy owning one, certainly not at £27k to £28k new.

Ours will taking over kids duties and a commute of 10 miles each way a few times a week. Luckily my workplace has free charging which is a bonus. We'll be keeping a diesel Honda CRV for longer journeys and dog duties but I can see that being used less and less.

In terms of the home charger I'm going to see how it goes topping it up every other day via the standard socket first before investing in anything else. Does the Leaf have an inbuilt timer so you can programme the charge to take advantage of lower overnight tariff rates?

I spent ages formatting this but when you post it, the formatting disappears!

Best deal for me was :
Smiths (metallic paint ) including servicing 15k per year mileage: (1+ 23) £347.58 Total: 8341.92

The N-Connecta deals with Willow Leasing and Express Vehicle Contracts were significantly cheaper but don't come with the ProPilot Driver assitance, or the LED lights , Electronic Parking Brake and BOSE Sound System.
When you consider you'll be handing that back with at least 30k on the clock and the fuel savings involved that represents some pretty decent value motoring

If its a solid white N-Connecta then it should be a stock car. I got mine last week, exactly a week after ordering.
Yeah white n-connecta. Just seems to be really slow.
I presume the order must be in but it’s a bit radio silence on the email front. Phone call I think.
Spoke to James earlier and he said Nissan have quite a load of orders to work through from last week, but he is hopeful that we'll see some progress in the next couple of days in terms of being allocated vehicles.

It seems like you get a free charger with this too:
https://www.ovoenergy.com/electric-cars/vehicle-to...
Got them coming to do a site survey next week to assess viability. Seems a no-brainer at the moment unless i'm missing something. Looks to be a standard CHAdeMO tethered unit with the smart stuff handled by the integrated app.

Only potential downside I could see is if the charger is somehow linked to OVO only and at the end of the contract you'd have to fork out for another charger. Not the end of the world though, certainly not if it achieves anywhere near the savings it promises

Rscut - you can swap just your electricity supply over to anyone you want & leave the gas as it is (although in your position I'd be stting myself about a massive bill down the line from some gas provider!).

Octopus go would be fine if you can take advantage of overnight cheap tariff, if you can't for whatever reason just chuck your estimated usage (including EV charging) into one of the comparison sites and pick the cheapest

I've ended up ordering a Podpoint 7Kw tethered for £359 .
I got a quote for a Rolec charger but it was quite a lot more due to needing an Earth Rod.

I'm looking to move home within a year and might see if I can move to one of the V2G contracts when I do , so I don't have to pay for the moving of the charge point.
Think I'll end up with podpoint too for the same reason, or I may just get my electrian mate to stick in a 32A commando socket from my existing garage consumer unit and pay £175 for the appropriate lead.

OVO v2g came out to survey but said they couldn't use my existing garage supply (something to do with AC and DC current) and my main supply is 30m from the driveway so would take a fair bit of work to sort out

Fantastic, what dates have they given you. I haven't had an email yet.
From the 14th of Feb for me. I guess if he's dealing with multiple dealers it could be different for each one

I had the guy from Ovo around and surprisingly he was willing to run 25m+ of armoured cable hidden around the base of the house to a point on the driveway. However the main fuse needs upgrading by the network first so it's going to be a few weeks before it's sorted at least.

The leaf is coming Monday morning so I'll just use the granny cable on my outside socket for now & charge every other night.

Speaking to a few people in work with EVs they haven't bothered with fast chargers at all & just charge more often.

My N-connecta was delivered this morning (ordered via James at EVC on 22nd Jan).

Wasn't best pleased it comes without mats (the driver had tried his best but it still had mud in the carpet already). James said the dealer categorically will not supply them. Would have been nice to know that prior to delivery really mad

The good:
- Exterior looks great (imo) and the interior certainly has a premium feel.
- Plenty of space, even with a large child seat behind the passenger & boot is reasonable
-The drive is exceptional, instant power delivery is great. The E-pedal became second nature within 5 minutes
- Charging is straightforward although the granny cable is slightly shorter than I expected

The bad:
- Just 1 USB port which is effectively your aux in if you want android auto etc. I've stuck a 12v adapter in to provide an additional 2 ports, one of which I've powered a front dashcam from. If I wanted to put my rear dashcam in I'd probably have to cut into power at the rear lights
- Nissan connect services app. I'd read up on the issues with this but jeez what an absolute st show it is. Not going to go into the details as I've had a gutsful of it for today.

I get mine on Thursday. What's the sound system like?
First impressions are that it's only average but then I'm more of a podcast guy so my opinion doesn't count for much!

Heated steering wheel was much appreciated this morning & ACC was impressive also

If it helps you can get a genuine set of Leaf Mats for £23.49 on Amazon?
Cheers for that. I ordered some non oem ones this morning from the bay for a tenner, that extra £13.49 would have eaten into my EV savings too much for my liking laugh

Can someone please explain..
Which app to download
How the hell I register
How to get the app to accept the vin
laugh

From memory:
App is NissanConnect Services (1.5* rating on play store)
It wouldn't let me register on the app, so I had to register here: https://www.nissan.co.uk/ownership/you-plus.html
I didn't get the authentication email so had to contact Nissan who sorted it, could then log in to the app (not straight away though)
Then you have to make sure you are connected to the car by bluetooth, then you can pair the app and the car with the vin and code you get from the car
Then you wait for the app services to activate (it says between 15mins and 4 hours but i'm on 28/32 after 3 days)

I've probably missed something but hope it helps. Try not to get too angry

Had a bit of a nightmare with the windscreen steaming up this morning, tried all kinds of settings but the top part just wouldn't shift. I know the rain was torrential at the time so dragging in wet clothes and shoes wouldn't help but never had an issue on other cars. Doesn't effect driving but does effect the dashcam view.

Also keep forgetting to stick it in park before turning the engine off!

Grrrrrr!!!

Regards the app, I'm now up to 31/32 services activated after 3 days. The only one not activated is driving history. Can heat the car from the app (very handy this morning) and see the charge status. The time to full charge is different on the app to the car dash reading though spin

Try restarting your phone as well, or killing the app as I think there's an issue with the app staying running in the background

Anyone had much look with the OVO trial? I’ve sent them pictures but can’t find the water bonding die a recent extension. During the extension we had the kitchen moved to the opposite side of the extension, however it is all boxed in. My electrician said he ‘thinks’ it was all plastic, but can’t remember. I’m finding it very frustrating!
Getting frustrated here too. They sorted out the upgrade of the main fuse via the power company but I've heard nothing since despite chasing. I'll give them one more chase but if I hear nothing that'll be it
