Discussion
Could these budget EV mini cars catch on here (if they conform to EU regs)?

That's a good point that about range anxiety; a have a couple of friend who get in a flap about it and don't realise how far 100 miles is, relative to their 10 mile commute, the supermarket that is 5 miles away etc.
I drive a 3500kg van on occasions, Covid permitting. Regular day is 500 miles but it can go over 600. When GPS shows less than 100 miles to home, I know that I am almost there Type R Tom said:
Whilst I think it's a good idea for a cheap local journey car to be electric, it does little to solve the congestion issues in our town and cities. Many of these short journeys should convert to other methods.
Unless of course, we are happy to have congestion just without poor air quality.
Unless motorists are priced out their cars onto "affordable" public transport instead? Unless of course, we are happy to have congestion just without poor air quality.

Because you can't afford millions but still want to embarrass supercars?
I can do that for much less money on race circuits. Playing silly buggers on our slow highways is not very sensible and can easily end in tears.Have you shared circuits with supercars? They are hardly ever driven properly. But there was Caparo T1 at Snetterton which was incredibly quick. We GPS clock over 150mph in a junk saloon on Bentley Straight but this Caparo was doing over 180mph.
No way could I stay with that road legal thing. But I'm sure Tesla Roadster2 would make mincemeat of it

Strange place this is.
Does 0-60 in sub 2 seconds, the quarter mile in sub NINE, for about the price of a nice 911.
But oh no! It's a Tesla! Too bad!
It's official - Tesla Roadster2 will break the outright road car lap record of 6:43.616 around the Nordschleife Does 0-60 in sub 2 seconds, the quarter mile in sub NINE, for about the price of a nice 911.

Interesting use of the words 'make' and 'does'
Agreed, but bigothunter was talking about the hypothetical of buying it so I went with that. In fact, bigothunter is making the case for them not producing it. After all, it's silly, unnecessary and worst of all... A Tesla. Ambleton said:
There are plenty of "heavy quads" coming to the market or on the market already in Europe to try and reduce inner city congestion.
I think they're a good idea. Is you reduce the space a car takes up by 1/3rd then in a congested city in theory you can get 1/3rd more cars on any stretch of road.
If citrien ever uprated uprated Ami so it had a top speed if around 50 instead of 30 then it could well take off here.
I like the look of the MicroLino and would probably get one if they brought them over here.
