Been surfing the classifieds looking at LPG converted cars and have noticed a few saying LPG recorded on V5 so cheaper road tax paid.

Now i'm curious about this, its mainly Jeeps i've been looking at which i know have been retrofitted so how does this work? Is it 'post' 2001 only ie the 'new' tax bands? If so are pre 2001 stuck at £205?

Most important question i suppose is how much is LPG tax V standard?

Also, if i buy one that doesn't have the LPG on the V5 can i put it on and save cash?

As far as I know If you have the certificate from an LPGA installer you can get the V5 amended, you will receive a massive discount of £15 on your annual road tax.
Feckin £15 mad

Hardly worth the effort!

I've just received my renewal for my '94 Defender that runs on LPG, tax is £205.
I thought they were exempt from congestion charge?

So obviously no effect on the pre 2001 tax rates?
