Page & Moy has been responsible for opening up Le Mans to the wide British audience and it is early days in this new area.

What you will see over time is financial and class based Apartheid, it is a natural effect which happens in every aspect of life.

You only have to look at our booze culture to see that we have drinking establishements to satisfy and keep every single type of Briton happy. Praise the Lord, for He is great.

A Kings Road 'Geoff' wouldn't drink in a Kilburn 'Navvies' pub and vice versa. As a result both parties are happy.

I am sure that a formal and mass request by PistonHeaders for a select campsite, costing more, with better facilities and for sports cars and guests only would solve all problems.

It is something that will happen over time but why not, if you feel so strongly about it, start the ball rolling early.

I'm sure every single one of you would love the idea of having your own campsite for your own type of people.

You already have that to a little extent with the difference between Blue and say Houx Annexe but there would be no harm in exagerating the difference by creating an 'enthusiasts' site for club members only.

Do it for the sake of Le Mans.

I stopped going due to monkies shouting 'Spin it' and people razzing cars dangerously around pedestrians and campers and have found a better event where only Europeans who are true enthusiasts turn up. But offer me a campsite for car club members only and all the amicable banter and jokes that would be played between the clubs, along with that competitive spirit and I'd be back like a shot.

Speak to the owner's clubs and then speak in voice to Page & Moy and it will be done.

Possibly nothing nowadays but going back a few years it was the road alongside Bleu that attracted the skinheads shouting at cars and chucking beer into them and Bleu had no proper ablutions. Used to be a horrible little van that filled with 1's & 2's by Friday evening and wasn't emptied or cleaned at all.

The one excellent thing about Bleu used to be the Caterham Car Club's big marquee and very generous hospitality.

Meanwhile, at Haux, it seemed to be all interesting cars and more chilled people.

Possibly that has all changed.

Times a-change and there isn't any point complaining. Either change it for the better or take the easy way out like me and find a different event for the summer raz.

Does sound like the Marque Park is the answer. Wonder if that is the large cordoned off area with Annexe that appeared about 3/4 yrs ago?

As for P&M, without them selling the blocks of tickets we wouldn't have had the campsites upgraded to have lighting, running water, proper ablutions, bins, proper roads. But other than that: 'What have the Romans ever done for us?'

Thanks Dusty.

Amusing reading some of the exclusions.

I have a feeling that everyone in that park would be 'Considerably richer than thow'.

Not my idea of fun at all.

Same idea for all car club members would be much much better. Just normal players from all walks of life with a love and respect for interesting cars and if lucky ownership to boot.

I suspect you get all of that at the classic Le Mans so maybee that is the answer.

Am I missing something here?
I travelled with Page & Moy back in the 80's, so it's hardly new?

I also used them as they drove a coach through the night Friday, got me to the race
rested (as much as a coach allows) and left right after the event ready to be at
my desk Monday morning to keep the boss happy...back when I had a boss!

Nothing wrong in that?

Hi,

True, but you used to book Le Mans by phoning the circuit and getting your campsite and entrance that way. Then about 4/5 yrs ago that stopped as everything had been pre-bought by tour operators of which P&M were the largest. These operators then started marketing in earnest in all the car mags including some which you wouldn't want to be associated with if you are a PH or LM snob ()

Washing car a definate no. Shocking behaviour.
