It's been about 7 years since I visited Le Mans with my dad, and were finally making a return this year to cheer on Porsche in the LMP1 class, but apart from the racing one part of the event we both really enjoyed was Mad Friday, a bunch of like minded people letting their hair down around the French roads, is Mad Friday still what it was 7 years ago or are the rumours true and its been taken over by chavs causing a riot? driving

I do remember 20 years ago with parades of looney vehicles like sofa's etc, but that fun element ended last century

I enjoy the burn outs and the drinking but certainly the above is my idea of Mad Friday and it's what I remember Mad Friday was all about.
It’s a real shame if this part of Le Mans and disappeared however Saint Saturnin Classic was great fun and I will be making my way over there. Let’s hope this year we have great Weather and a fantastic race.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the donuts and wheel spins so long as the crowds are respectful of the owners cars.
No broken glass or chucking buckets of water into convertibles

I'm sure I saw that one year, thats the type of Mad Friday everyone can enjoy.
I don't think the chavs even care about the race it's probably a big piss up with a bit of motor racing soon to be a club 18 30s event !

Mad Friday used to be controlled madness from what I remember although there was a small amount of tw**ish behaviour it never got to the point of vandalism the water pistols have always been there but were generally used to soak the floor for burnouts not the people in convertables.
A fond memory of mine was a red lotus europa putting on quite a display of roundabout tyre screeching, donuts and burnouts he went back and forth for most of the evening and the police sat back and watched with enjoyment to.
