What's the story with the caravan being towed on the track

Hahahhaha

Love your video Mark. Did you stop of for a flask of tea and a hobnob at the second chicane. biggrin

No track laps for me this year so had to make do with a few blats around the road sections before the roads were closed for the event. Was gutted for everyone on Saturday morning when I woke to see the rain.

Brian.
Have to say that really was a damp one frown As for the twitchy bit at indy corner, found out there had been a bit of oil on track, one or two others experienced the same issue.

I know its just supposed to be Parade laps but we should not have been out with those old cars from the 1930s and 50s. The missus was scared senseless biggrin

I do think the organisers should send out a letter to each car club laying out in clear terms what they expect from drivers when on track, IE, Slow cars keep right, No stopping on the main start finish straight, saw this happen again later in the day and it was another Porsche driver waiting for a mate to catch up! Many drivers do not know flag warning colours either, (oil on track), etc.
I would love a picture of my car on track, I think the organisers could make a fortune if they took pictures of cars on track then sell them to you, I know I would have bought one.

I agree with what you say. While a parade it is a huge track to control and people tend to go for it without any regard to track rules. Some are just outright nutters and a danger to all. Unlikely that I will do it again due to this.

Sounds like you had a good result though scaring the OH. Boys trip only from now on then. Lol

Next time, let me know when you are on track and I'll try and get some shots for you. Was going to do the cobra lads this year but stayed in bed when I realised it was pouring down.

Colin popped over on the evening before we set off for Le Mans I got the impression that he would have gladly jumped in the passenger seat and come with us.

Top result getting on wheeler dealers. I love that show. Mike and Ed seem like good blokes and real petrolheads. Was it arranged or was you just lucky to be there?

Brian
Wheeler Dealers was a bit of luck, I just happened to get home from work and look to see what was going on at the Ace that evening, I saw that they were filming there so quickly jumped in the car and upon arrival Mike Brewer picked the car out for a feature smile The Viper guys in the USA also saw the show broadcast over there, needless to say I'm infamous now! biggrin

Fatboy18, parade lap photos.

At the 2012 event I spent 1 1/2 hours photographing the parade laps for friends in the Marcos / Morgan clubs and everything else on track.

I sold 3 photos, and one person never paid me, it's really not worth it!
Thing is how many knew you were taking photos? Sorry to hear you did not get paid, that sucks frown

Thing is I keep thinking about Theme parks, how they get pics of all those faces on a roller coaster? Also Ski runs where they have a small timed course and a camera at the end.

So my idea would be to set up a couple of places on track where drivers knew there car would be photographed, then after your parade lap you go to the photo booth, look at the shot and decide if you would like to buy it. smile
Example:
Parade laps 8am Lap 1 .......
Parade lap 8:35 Lap 1 ....... etc, etc
You get the idea smile

Have to say I was thinking along the lines of the ACO installing the cameras and monies would go to them rather than an individual.

I have done track days at Silverstone and come away with a good pic of my car on track in a cardboard frame saying Silverstone, so I don't know why it could not be done at Le mans, sure you are unlikely to get Everyone, but if there were two different places set up on track, Digital cameras can work wonders now days smile And if Drivers knew the spot im sure there would be a few cars swinging over towards the cameras.

I'm just throwing up ideas here smile

Fatboy18, I presume at Silverstone there was still a photographer operating the camera, I did not think they have any cameras except CCTV last time I spoke with them. Could be wring, and I will have a look next weekend at Silverstone classic.
Yes, it was a few years ago now but yes. You're right it was a photographer who was stationed track side but the package was you left the track at the end of the day with a 12 x 8 photo with a cardboard frame and the words 'Silverstone' printed on the frame smile
It worked for me and I bought the pic smile

As for places to take pics at Le mans, Ford chicane comes to mind as a slow place to catch the cars at a bit of an angle and of course Dunlop Bridge, personally Tet rouge corner with the trees and Stella bar in the background would be good but that is not the slowest of places!
As I said, just throwing up thoughts here, happy to debate smile
Here's the Silverstone pic smile
