Just a 'reminder' that as of May this year, the car owner (not necessarily the driver) will get fined if you're caught by a fixed speed camera in France. So the days of being able to 'forget' the one just before the tunnel at Rouen, or the ones on the autoroute, or by the level crossing before Yvetot are sadly behind us...

Keep and eye out, and safe travels everyone !

Is there a published list of speed camera locations in France?

Except that whilst they can send a fine they can't enforce it. That is until they send they send the boys from "Ne peut pas payer, nous allons lui ôter !"

they now have 'areas' where the cameras are, supposedly Sat navs aren't allowed to be active in France, just give a general warning.
tolerance is a lot less than UK
you'll soon know where they are though as the French have a habit of 'must get past, must get past' then slowing down way below the Limit....A28 Bridge South of Rouen is the classic..

True, but I figured it might be a pain the next time I try to go to France if there are outstanding fines.

Most (if not all) of the locations seem to be on Waze.

Any in car equipment that can locate and advise the locations of speed cameras (fixed and mobile) is strictly illegal in France and may mean the car is confiscated if caught. Is it worth the risk?

Yes, because how would they prove it?

Not true I believe.

The fine are now enforceable through the UK magistrates courts.

Is there any real truth to this? It rears it's head every year but without any substance to confirm its true? I read on another thread that the UK Government wouldn't agree to share information with the French?

Incidentally, I got flashed coming back from Spain in May and haven't had anything through the door so I'm hoping its not smile

It is true that since May the DVLA will now supply your details to police in EU countries. Who can then send you a demand for a fine.
However these ar not enforceable by uk courts. You could stick up two fingers but of course when you next go to France they could jump on you.

Mixed reports about enforcement. Some clarification and proof would be great on this.

The only change is DVLA will supply your details, everything else is the same. So as when the hire company supplies your details (and charges you for it) the fine is not enforceable in the uk including points etc. However I would of not recommend ignoring it if you ever want to take the same vehicle to France again.

With respect and I have no reason to doubt what you are saying but this is only you saying it, where can I actually find that it is written in black and white?

Drove back to Eurotunnel the other day. 7pm on a Saturday evening, 'Les Flics' were parked up 1km short of the tunnel slip road on the A16 - laser in hand.

More or less where the speed limit lowers. They know how to earn money don't they!
I must say that on over 300 trips on the Eurotunnel, I haven't seen them at that location. More recently they have been on the approach to the toll booths where the limit lowers.
