I'm booked in for the Le Mans Classic weekend (with on site camping) next year and hoping to make the journey down in my MK1 MX5. It will be my first time and I'll be traveling from the North to Portsmouth and crossing to Caen or Le Harve (Le Harve being the most likely).

I just wanted to know if you were able to sleep over on the Sunday night (and travel back Monday) or whether they insisted everyone has to leave on the Sunday. My preference would be to travel down to Portsmouth Wednesday evening, catch the overnight ferry and be in France early Thursday morning. This should give us ample time to get to the circuit, pitch out tent up and relax. Similarly, I would like to go back on the Monday so it isn't a mad dash on the Sunday just to get back to the port.

Can anyone shed some light on this please?

Unless they've changed the rules recently you're fine.

If you're just on an ACO site and not one of the private sub-sections 'security' will pack up at 4pm on Sunday and the local recyclers descend. So long as there's always someone in your camp (i.e. don't all decide to go off in to town for Sunday night) you shouldn't have any problems - some people seem to have issues but the ones we've encountered keep to the clearly abandoned pitches.

Toilets should still be open but showers tend to close/get the heating turned off so don't go expecting to get up Monday morning to have a nice hot shower.
Thank you very much. We are just in an ACO site, but was hoping for a more relaxed journey back on Monday. Not too bothered about showers, just somewhere to sleep!
