Le mans 24 virtual
Discussion
Is anyone recreating this even at home . Gutted that we wont be off to france this coming week however we have purchased and had made up posters and t shirts to feel we are there .
I'm sure the great british weather wont fail us on the unpredictability at present.
Any one else intending to do this ?
Also we noticed it's not showing the complete race on t.v anyone know what chanel is ?

Yes your right there .
We have a projector so will have it on the big screen hopefully in the garden with our deck chairs to give it the real effect.
Just received our personalised t.shirts and posters that we had made up.
I had seen that motorsports tv was showing it all including the consert so for £3.99 we have subscribed which is mad as sky is £90 a month yet covering minimal.

I must admit you tube and Eurosport have been a better option for us . I brought an Epson projector and the plan was to conect to my laptop to stream mototrsporttv as I felt none of the other channel's would show as much .
Just like the real race we dont stay at the track for the complete race .
And now this morning we are back watching but without the mad rush to leave the track at 3 to beat the traffic out of the stadium.
This really has been a great race so far .

[quote=lowdrag]Well, the circuit has changed immeasurably since 1955 - and from 1955 to 1956 even - but in the virtual world all is feasable. I hate to be a dissenter but I really didn't like it that much, with no weather causing accidents (the torrential downpour at Mulsanne at 1730 Saturday would have sorted a few out - I was driving nearby just then and had to stop the car it was so bad) and the "accidents" didn't seem to need any repairs. Did you see any punctures and cars crawling back? I didn't watch much of it really. At least no drivers were virtually killed.[/quote
I'm sure with todays technology they could have added the weather to be real time.
We had checked in advance and had seen bad weather was scheduled.
Lucky you being so close 😪.

I think with virtual racing how real to make things is always a balancing act and it's early days for this sort of professional, global scale virtual racing.
Yea they could have had the weather but if the rain WAS that bad there's a chance the ACO would have thrown the SC out in the real race - and who wants to see virtual cars following a virtual SC?
Yea they could have had more damage/realistic crashes, but then do you have debris so virtual slow zones/virtual marshals/etc to clear it up? Does that add anything? Does anyone want a 4hr virtual SC session while virtual marshals repair vitrual damage to virtual armco+? My understanding is that a crashed car got reset to the pits with a crash-size related time penalty so there were consiquencies.
+ Though yes, I would like to see the virtual crowd chear the virtual lorry full of armco as it drives around the SC neutralised circuit to the repair point as the crowd do IRL.

Read here for the ACO scheme:-
https://www.lemans.org/en/news/club-aco-new-member...
The 24 Hour Moto at the end of August is behind closed doors, the 24 Hours Trucks has been bumped by the ACO into November for the 24 Hours main race, and talk here is that since the Trucks will now be in November that it will probably be cancelled altogether. Even without the undercurrent of talk that the virus will rear its ugly head again in the autumn, I can't see just how the ACO are going to control distancing around the circuit. From the pits to Tertre Rouge, the village, Mulsanne, Arnage - it's a logistical nightmare. Even if the crowd is lower than it would be in June (and I think a maximum of 50% will come so let's say 100,000 for sake of argument) it will be impossible to control properly. I'm not trying to be a prophet of doom here, just trying to think things through, but sadly, as we are seeing in the USA, when safety and the dollar collide, the dollar always wins.
Also considering hotels and other boarding may have restrictions on numbers also.https://www.lemans.org/en/news/club-aco-new-member...

Sadly I feel a big deal was made of the virtual as they know it's highly likely to be canceled .
