It is announced in today's paper that neither of the above will be held this year because of Covid. It would seem logical to think that Mulsanne will also cancel their event. Sorry folks.

I am not trying to be negative, but I can't see spectators being allowed frankly. Normally, there are over 200,000 who come to Le Mans, but that (like Bournemouth) could create a time bomb of new COVID cases. Sanitary arrangements for campers; how the hell will that be policed? Everyone is talking about the second wave of the disease, and that lockdown could come back. I have no idea; I am Joe Bloggs and no medical expert, but even so, on a personal note as someone who lives here, I don't really want to see 100,000 great unwashed wandering around my neck of the woods. We can only wait and see though. I stay with the marshals on their guest tickets at Mulsanne, but - will guest tickets exist either? It seems to me that if my friends come as usual we'll be watching it on the tele, and with it being nearly October possibly with horizontal rain and 8C temperatures. However, nil desperandum. Let's hope for the best.

Of course, if you set off a couple of days early you can bring your own viewing platform.

I think that anyone who has ever been to Le Mans knows that Friday is the rest day so the drivers get a day off after free practice and qualifying. So there is the Drivers Parade to please the crowd. I've done it a few times and it is very impressive. Except that this year they have compressed the event into four days and not five so no free Friday. Will this be like the non-existent moon landing? Will it be virtually run and they will pretend it took place? Do conspiracy theories start here folks? Answers on a postcard please.

Just can't be Great Dane. Friday is now a race day, not a rest day, so no drivers will be available. Ergo, the Drivers Parade is cancelled.

Today's paper gives the latest update from the ACO - for what it's worth. The ACO are determined that spectators will be allowed. They acknowledge that at the moment the maximum is 5,000 but then say the government has stipulated that this could change at the beginning of September, but saying that next week they will make another announcement indicating that the number will be somewhere between 10,000 and 90,000. If your head is spinning, I am not surprised.

What’s the situation with the red sausage supply in Le Mans?
Red sausages? I trust you mean the lean mean and deadly spicy merguez. I bought some at the butchers today. Available everywhere, but if you want the best go to a butchers, not the supermarket. But look for rillettes in the butchers too, a beige tub with a red top. Speciality of the Sarthe and fabulous spread on a baguette.

I really don't think so. Late in the season, cold, rain - perhaps frost. Not many daylight hours. But we shall see what the ACO comes up with.

We will know more the day after tomorrow, so not long to wait
The ACO can say what it likes, but for the moment the maximum number permitted to attend is 5,000. That might be 5,000 inside the circuit, plus Arnage, Mulsanne etc. but it is the government who will change the limits, not the ACO. I shall be as interested as the next man to see what is in the paper tomorrow morning (or perhaps the day after) but as far as I am concerned the ACO are whistling in the wind. They do not have the power to change the law.

Well, Fillon 1 is disgraced and out of politics, his brother Fillon 2 is President of the ACO, so between them there is a lot of clout. But I can't see the government caving in just for the 24 Hours. What about Roland Garros and all other prestigious sporting events? It'll be hard to justify the 24 Hours and deny the others. Still, we'll know shortly.

How the mighty have fallen! Paying your wife and two kids obscene salaries out of public funds as "Parliamentary aides". No presidency and first lady for them, but several years in an 8x8 for him. but they are appealing and as is the way of things in politics, he won't spend one day in prison in the end.

PS Just been out in the garden and a lot of noise from the circuit. No idea what cars are out there though.

I think this is still the ACO kicking the can down the road, maybe expecting the government to prevent them from having a mass gathering. By delaying, they don't need to fart about with refunds yet, and they might get some insurance payout if they are forced to ban attendance through govt mandate. It feels like the race is definitely happening whatever, but I think it's very much in the air if people will be allowed to spectate in person.
I really don't think one can say more than that. How many tickets have been sold already? I'd probably reckon a lot less than last year but probably about, say, 40,000 at least? That's just a stab in the dark, and I'm pretty certain that I won't find any kicking around here at Le Mans. Only the ACO members used to buy early to get stand places. But 1st Tickets, Langoustine, et al must have sold a bunch.

Even for existing ACO members I noticed there was a little star in play - "Only ACO members* and anyone who already holds a ticket for the race will be admitted to the circuit as a spectator.". That little star being "*within the limit of available seats", so just being a member (who hasn't booked any tickets yet) isn't a guarantee of a ticket.
As I've posted in the other thread, it was clearly stated in this morning's paper that all and any ACO members - apparently 23,000 of them - have the right to buy two tickets if they haven't already done so.

Tickets bought after 29/6 have no refund option. Only a credit for next year.
