Thought I’d start a thread for anyone who’s here with any news for us who have made the journey. We arrived this afternoon, had a beer at Tetre Rouge, they were closing at 4pm for the rest of the week. The Hunaudieres bar is open, they are open all week, viewing from upstairs, no screening by the car park. Arbor had cars parked, but Lowdrag had no response from knocking. Drove round to Arnage corner, not usually open race week fro memory. Museum is open all week so will be visiting this week. Happy days.

Visited the museum today, got a Porsche exhibition of their 70 years I think, nice 917 collection, easy parking over the road. Went to usual Mulsanne boulangerie for lunch, saw the same ladies there, they are closed Sunday. All very quiet. On the plus side went out to Le Lude for first time today and met Leyorkie for a wonderful steak. Also, the toilet at Carrefour has never been so clean. Had merguez for breakfast and now watching Eurosport for the evening with nasty cheap wine, tres bien.

Were you the people with the black and white Corvette marked "Pace Car" at Carrefour Market" on Wednesday?
That’ll have been us, not much chance another Pace Car will have turned up this year. The strawberry tarts at Mulsanne are just the best.

A nice mixture of both please smile
Well I would, but not actually taken the camera out of the bag yet. Really good to meet Lowdrag today and put a face to a name, top fella, nice Jag. Nipped into town today, not the greatest, parked at cathedral, wandered looking for place to get food, (found 7 Plats Lowdrag) nothing open in the afternoon, went to Mulligans, a banker for a mixed grill, no joy. Ended up at Buffalo Grill with some Italian Dellara mechanics. Half decent, crawled out of town in rush hour, Vette overhearing, back to digs for evening of cheap wine and podcast comedy. See what happens tomorrow for race, could be watching on tv, well the weather has been great, celebrate the small things.

For anyone watching and listening to Eurosport, the comment from Mark Cole about the lightning came from us, Martin and Phil. At least we had some involvement in the weekend. Like the end of the world in the distance, might not make it to the circuit but looks very impressive. Glad we’re not camping.

Was it worth it? Simple answer, yes. Out for beers in Ashford on Monday, all good. Out in Deauville on Tuesday at King Orry pub drinking Delerium Red, until the landlord decided we’d had enough to be driving the next day. Wise words. The drive to Le Mans was class, stopped at usual place on way for coffee, pulled into Tetre Rouge for beer at about 2pm when we found out they were closing at 4pm for the weekend. Went to Hunaudieres for a beer and found they were open all weekend, so we had an option for viewing.

Went to museum on Thursday for the Porsche exhibition, listened to practice from museum. Met up with Leyorkie in Le Lude in the evening for a couple a beers and a beautiful steak at Rose & Crown. Met up with Lowdrag at Le Break for beer on Friday before a trip into town in search of food, ended up with beer at Mulligans before heading to Buffalo Grill where we ate next to the Dellara mechanics.

Race day we set ourselves up with wine, 1664, cheese and crisps with Eurosport on the Firestick sat on the deck. Sunday we set off to Mulsanne, watched at Hunaudieres and then decided to head to Heliberte to see if we could get a flight, which we did. So at 1pm we then had two laps in the helicopter flying under the Goodyear blimp and following a Toyota down Mulsanne. We also got a mention on Eurosport when the lightning was coming, but never arrived, was an awesome show down south, shame it never reached the circuit.

The last night out was in Bolougne drinking Guinnesss at the Irish Bar followed by a dicey kebab which I only got as it included a Merguez sausage,

As for quarantine, I work from home, so not a big deal, the wife did the shop, I spend time decorating. Just means I can’t got cycling till next Monday which is a bit of a pain. But I just think, “last week I was in Le Mans drinking red wine” so you know what, not being able to nip to Aldi is a small price to pay. I had a great week. Would I do it next year? Maybe not. But so glad I went this year.

Are you all comin out of quarantine today? What was it like?
Are you allowed to exercise when you're in it?
Officially its 14 days after the day you return, so tomorrow is the first real day we can leave the house. Only exercise can be indoors or in garden, so not done anything, will be getting bike out tomorrow though that's for sure. My mate got called by border force after a few days, I've heard nothing. No checks at border for the locator forms, bit of a joke. Apart from that's its been fine, I've been working from home anyway so not have to travel, just had to get food delivered or have wife shop, but its been quite easy.
