Simple question, as above. How long should I allow to make sure I don't miss the ferry.

Reason for asking is that it looks like my co-pilot he will have to be in Scunthorpe at 8am on Monday 14th (non negotiable). Therefore we are looking at the 20:15 ferry back from Cherbourg so he can drive back overnight.

172 miles according to Autoroute - 3 hours adequate? If we were to leave at 16:00 what would we be missing at Le Mans?

We (or he) might be giving it a miss until next year otherwise...

TIA

Paul

Just to add...

Thinking of getting the 23:45 Pompey -> Cherbourg on the Wednesday, and then back on the Sunday (20:15 ferry from Cherbourg).

As a Le Mans virgin I don't know whether this is a good idea or not? What do people think? Given the only other option is waiting until 2005?

DustyC,

You are a mine of information. Many Thanks.

There wasn't much chance of me giving it a miss. Definitely will be going.

Cheers

Next logistics question - how long to drive back to Calais? Looking at the last train back on the Sunday as an alternative option...

Cheers.

Looks like we're going for ferry out and train back.

23:45 Pompey to Cherbourg on the 9th
01:40 Calais to Folkestone early on the 14th
