Unregistered import for sale
Discussion
Hello.
I have seen a car for sale that is being sold on ebay as an import thst has not been registered in the UK. It was apparently imported some time ago and is not currently in a roadworthy state. Project car.
Can someone who knows about the import and registering process advise if this is worth considering. What are the risks. What would be needed to register it and what costs would I be looking at?? Or should I just avoid it!
Thanks

Thanks for that. So if they can't prove tax was paid on impart I will probably leave it!
It's well over 20 years old and a project car so in bits.
Does it need to be up and running to be registered? I.e. does it need to be MOTed.
Thanks for the help I am very new to the whole import and registration process!

Depends when it was imported. Since NOVA was introduced in 2013, imports have needed to be notified for the tax confirmation within 14 days - BUT stuff imported before that didn't need to be notified. Can you demonstrate when it was imported...? Was it imported from within the EU?
I am guessing it is imported from Japan but will check. Does that make a difference? Gassing Station | Car Buying | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
