Best car under £1000

I know there’s probably been threads like this in the past..

Basically just sold my 2016 Fiesta ST to help save money as I’ve just bought my first house. Out of the sale price I have £1000 after clearing the finance to buy myself a runaround.

Will do little miles, 6k a year maximum, but needs to be reliable so I’m not constantly forking out for repairs.

My shortlist was a Clio 1*2, however finding one this cheap with new belts isn’t happening and if they need doing, it’s a 600-700 quid job, and a Focus ST170 however mostve these are slowly succumbing to rust.

Any ideas?

Performance of course at this price range is not a necessity, just didn’t know if anyone had any recommendations from previous experience etc. Mk5 ZS is a good shout although hard to find one without rust for rear arches. Have looked into Corolla’s too, seem reasonable.

I am open to anything really just the Clio and ST170 I’ve noticed you can pick up pretty cheap. I’ve looked at preface E46 tourer, MK6 Fiesta but you guys are helPing broaden the search!

Yaris isn’t a bad idea, if I can stretch a bit you can even pick up a tidy T Sport Yaris. May be an option!
