What to spend £20k on which will rise in value

I've been saving up and have between £20k and £30k to spend, but don't need to spend all of it.
What would you put your money into that is likely to creep up in value over the next few years?
I'm a rwd kind of guy, and big fan of the old MX5's and certainly the old BMW stuff, i've already got an old M5...
Currently i'm leaning towards an M635csi if i can find a decent one for the money, but good E39 M5's also seem to be creeping up. A friend has an 80's Porsche 911 thats absolutely beautful too, he values it at around £25k...

To be clear i'm a car enthusiast, not in it to make money, all i want is a car i can enjoy on weekends over the next few years without losing tons of money on it depreciating.
Interesting about the 996, a friends engine failed last week and he's looking at a £10-£12k bill, they do look great tho.
I've been looking at 8 series sports for a while, i had heard they wer't that great as drivers cars though, they do look a little heavy. That said i have the same engine in my E39 540 and it's a great engine.
E46 M3's are just too common for me still. A good friend has one and it's a great car but just 'not for me'.
Like the idea of the 2002 tii, need to look more closely at whats available, in a similar vein, £25k gets you into a decent Alfa Junior from the 60's or 70's and they look beautiful...
