So, looking to get a 4x4 soon around 10-13K budget have looked at range rovers but liking the Cayenne GTS as well which seems worth it.

Either way, I want to do some defensive mods to prevent entry to the cabin and deter any crack heads from coming close.

Any tips please? have looked so far at tempered/ballistic windows, but would appreciate suggestions. I would also like to somehow have a painfully loud siren switch and some sort of blinding lights installed on the grille, more blinding than the HIDs we see nowadays.

Price estimates welcome, much appreciated!

Thanks for the response!

I'm not too bothered about the body work being penetrated, but the windows should be able to withstand being hit by solid items; bricks poles etc.

Opportunistic thieves would be the main focus so a siren that can be controlled internally and extremely loud would be good and I just need suggestions on what kind of lighting to go for that needs to be mounted on the car.

Thanks again- and I'd like to get it done within about £1000ish so no tape needed I hope

Thanks, will look into this, do you know whether windshields are allowed to be replaced with tougher materials?

Assuming this isnt a schoolkid dreaming and you're series then buy purpose built. Along the lines of a VR4 Built BMW such as: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2007-BMW-550i-Security-...tongue outf:0
That's only bullet resistant, not bullet proof! hehe
'Owt is better than nowt' - As I heard someone exclaim once

Ah the thing i forgot to suggest was, 'remain inconspicuous!', a Porsche of any description isnt, my money would go on a 4.8i Se X5 (Fitted with optional acoustic glass (Laminated)) with all the options.

Not bad if I can get the right interior combination, a lot of the ones ive seen look dated, from what ive read this glass would only be on the windscreen, will see how much it is to retro fit

I still want a bit of luxury! haha I have seen some similar ones in good shape but they still need a lot of work to be used on a daily basis. Good idea though

Anything you do aftermarket wise will only have a limited effectiveness. Pentagon Glass Protection, Auto Lock on Doors, Disable Stop start, runflat tyres, ensuring you always have 1/2 tank of fuel and doing some advanced driving, evasive manoeuvring etc. Also id avoid low profile wheels, if going for a GTS, those wheels and tyres not not put up with accelerating across a curb etc at anything faster than walking pace!

Thanks! i saw this 5 series on gumtree but would rather do the mods myself so that I can pick the car and I would prefer a 4wd. Any other cars that would be good over curbs? Also I have checked out the pentagon window link too and will be calling tomorrow for a quote

Friend of mine has a lifted Hilux. Rock sliders down each side, ARB steel bumper on the front, and a custom fabricated dropside bed and steel rear bumper.

I've seen pictures of it absolutely ruining idiots cars in supermarket car parks. One woman had her kid open his door into the side bar and smashed her own window, he had another just nudge up against the bumper parking in a bay and it ripped there bonnet off like a can opener.

All the urban defence you'd ever need
This is what I need

For additional security you could probably tow this, or at least have it in your front garden in case your followed. They did have a proper gun emplacement but looks like it's sold.
