It’s been bugging me for a while, but I think I need to scratch that itch. I am one of few people who love the S and X Type. I love the way they look, I haven’t driven one but they can’t be terrible, surely? The need for a slightly bigger car on occasion has arisen, although I’m not selling my 330ci, as it’s the best car I’ve ever owned and I can’t bear to part with it.

What can I expect if I were to drop around £2.5k on a circa 2005/2006 (pre tax hike) 3.0 Sport with circa 80-120k on the clock? It’ll do less than 3000 miles a year and is really only for occasional use when the 330 won’t be quite big enough. With the X I wouldn’t be adverse to the estate, but I really only like either car in Sport guise. I specifically do not want a pre facelift S Type! Guessing auto is more common, and actually for me, and this car preferable, but wouldn’t say no to a manual. I know they rust, less so post 2004 apparently, primarily the reason I want a 2005/2006 model.

Cheers.

Thanks all, I won’t discount the V8, fuel doesn’t really matter too much but as long as it’s as reliable as the V6 I don’t see why not...

Do you have deep pockets and unlimited income?
I’ve owned E39’s and an E46, I think I’m well qualified. I probably earn less than an S Type was new!
