Umming and ahhing over a convertible for the wife. She then decided she wanted the M140i.

Very random for her to be honest.

Went for a test drive and to be honest I was very very impressed. Having owned an E46 M3 and and RS4.

Anyone got one? Is a good compromise as a family motor?

Spec (Posted below in thread also) :

Estoril Blue
Adaptive M Suspension (I sacked off the adaptive LEDs for the suspension)
Folding Electric Door Mirrors
Heated Front Seats
Front and Rear PDC
Professional Media Package
Estoril Blue Dash insert for interior
Black leather with blue stitching
Orbit Grey alloys (I prefer these to the Jet black)t was a toss up between alpine white with adaptive LED and above spec

Thanks

They are good cars. Not the best driver's car, but a good daily.

I hope you got a massive discount?
Car came in at £29,500 with dealer and BMW contribution taken into account

Sounds like the TRL deal? ??
Yes, you are correct.

Fairly decent deal in all honesty. Golf R was very high on list also

Hi guys,

OP here, my local garage decided to price match TRL and also allow me to play with the spec. I was fairly shocked, they matched the deal to the penny and allowed to change alloy choice and so on. Also got a free service chucked in.

Nothing against TRL, it's just that the trip to Heathrow would have been a ball ache. And my local dealership have looked after my M3 for a number of years.

So I have chosen the following.

Estoril Blue
Adaptive M Suspension (Dealer thought I should leave off - I said no)
Folding Electric Door Mirrors
Heated Front Seats
Front and Rear PDC
Professional Media Package
Estoril Blue Dash insert for interior
Black leather with blue stitching
Orbit Grey alloys (I prefer these to the Jet black).

Car comes in April.

Very excited.

The choice on the adaptive was personal. And having read the countless threads about it it was a must have.

One again, Tony (TRL) was fantastic and I thoroughly recommend him. He has the deals guys, so make sure you ask him.

Whats the thinking on the Orange? My wife likes the Orange whereas my preference would be the grey which is apparently dullsville rolleyes
Grey looks great. Orange and Blue were very close decision for me

Estoril in person looked fantastic.

The alloys are anthracite but that was taken first thing this morn when it wasnt fully light yet.
Exactly what ours will look like. Nice! I'm glad I started this thread now!!

The alloys those are the orbit ones in the grey? Not matt black?

BMW have quoted us £299 for three years.
Hi,

OP here. I have secured a service pack for £299 over the first three years of the car. I'll be doing 8,000 miles per year.

Is it worth it? God these cars are cheap to service compared to my E46 M3!!!!!

Read a few who mentioned adaptive suspension, but not sure if its essential.

Have you seen the state of the roads in the UK?

We didnt opt for it, even though we did on our previous car, an A45 as after test driving one we didnt think it was necessary. The M140i's ride is firm, but not jarring.

Though personally, i wouldnt die in a ditch over adaptive LEDs either mind you.

But then thats the beauty of individual choice isnt it - what some people consider "essential" others think is a bit meh and vice versa.

As has been said - the car is well spec'd in standard spec so anything else is just preference - we went with Pro Nav, front parking sensors and heated seats and a couple of other minor things but none of those i'd describe as "essential" even though they were on our particular list.
Bang on the money. Terrific car nonetheless.

Enjoy!!!!
