Simple question I guess

I was looking at a older 2008/9 diesel Touran to take our dogs around on the touran forum and suddenly I got hit with loads of people telling me I was a fool looking at a diesel as its going to cost me an extra £5k a year within the next few years

When I asked no-one could tell me why but are they correct

I will only be buying a sub £2k touran as a runaround but if they are correct and its going to cost me a couple of grand extra per year to run I will think twice

I've not heard anything about this but maybe my ear hasn't been to the ground enough !

p.s. it will only be taking the dogs for walks or uk holidays not driving into city everyday

cheers

Thanks a lot for all your advice

I should have said I am going for a NON DPF model

Apparently its not just 2006 or earlier, some of the models even up to 2009 dont have a DPF

cheers

Is there a simple way either via registration or otherwise that I can know whether a used touran has a DPF or not

The models seem to vary form 2004 to 2009 some have some dont

When I speak to the owners most of them dont know themselves and I am not a mechanic

Maybe the exact year/model/ chassis number ?

Thanks
