I was going to buy a Range Rover Sport from a dealer for around 28k. As I like my money I think I might spend 10-12k on disco 4 on copart with 3 or 4k in reserve if it needs a little tidying up. Is this insane?

Well technically they are different models and the only damage is vin and minor dents. I'm not a complete idiot I'm booking a video call to assess

Up to £9100 with 3 days left.

Looks like it will go above £10k but if the lack of vin isn't an issue then it looks good value.

I would contact the DVLA as well as Copart.
My granny all supported me whatever the endeavour!

Why not give Weathersure Roofing & Building a call and ask them about their old Disco?

I can't imagine they'll hide anything as it's not their problem now....
This is on the to do list

Car shows 2 errors in the visual inspection, open bonnet and flat tyre. However there's a critical error warning light on the dash. I've asked them to plug in an odb and get the fault codes and they are looking into it!

For clarification my nephew did not bid 20k, but I appreciate the wild accusations and insinuations!

I was indeed the highest bidder at a point where I wasn't willing to go any higher. despite this it hadn't reached the sellers reserve which is a solid 5k higher than my bid.

I'm unwilling to go to that price point because you could literally buy one from a dealer with a warranty at that point.
Quite odd and ultimately a little disappointing, there truly are no free lunches!

At the moment they have invited me to purchase it at the reserve, I have declined and the seller has lowered the reserve but I am.only willing to pay what I bid

The sellers have accepted my offer which was 5k under the reserve. This seems like a pretty decent indicator that the car is good if the reserve was set so high. Next step is delivery to my mechanic and V62, MOT and Tax to get it back on the road.

I do have some buyers remorse and I am not sure I will hold on to it as even webuyanycar would give me a small profit now if the car isn't completely rubbish.

Lets wait and see what happens
